I've seen a lot of spare dials and hands traded, bought and sold for Rolex, but not so for Panerai. However, when a Panerai spare dial pops up on the market, I can't help but raise an eyebrow.
Question is, how do they come about? In particular, the PreV dials. I am thinking that when the company switched hands, it gave rise to the opportunity that some spare dials, hands (or even cases) got leaked out onto the grey market. However all this is just my assumptions.
I have genuine reasons for asking, and am not at liberty to divulge on a public forum, so I hope everyone would forgive me on that.
I hope the old timers can help chime in on this. If this is too controversial, we could go via PM. Many thanks in advance...
and post them for sale in the early 2000's. I have no idea if he's still selling these parts since I haven't checked in years, but technically if this were a perfect world, Panerai would not leak out spare parts because it is their policy to not make them available. But since the world is not perfect, there will always be leaks here and there.
Just remember though, don't send in a tritium dial watch into a Panerai service center!
Cheers,
Anthony
