I am smitten by the Panerai bug again and am thinking about which one to hunt for next.
I've sort of narrowed it down but am still thinking about the design, style, looks, diversification from what I already own, future collectibility, etc.
I know I have to be the one to make the ultimate decision,
but was wondering of the 4 below, what your choice would be and your reasons.
(By the way, my current collection is a 141, 217, 249)
1) 233?
2) 232?
(I'm not even saying I can get a hold of one or eitiher of these but)
3) New SE 026?
4) or the 307?
Thanks for any feedback.
-easy to get
-big 47 rad
-really nice (plane/sandwich dial)
-takes you back the roots of panerai

The PAM26 lets u add a PVD to your collection. And the PAM307 gives u a unique submersible.

141, 217, 249 (Amazing collection BTW!)
So you've got 2 SS Radiomir, 1 x 42mm + 1 x 47mm, 1 SS Luminor 1950 case 47mm. To balance out the collection a little bit by Casing, I would go w/ a Luminor for your next one. which would rule out 232 (Too close to 249 anyway!) Among 233, 26 and 307, I'm not a big fan of 307 due to that electronic depth gauge so it's down to 233 & 26. (Plus you already have a 47mm Luminor!) 26 would be good as you don't have any PVD/DLC watch in your collection but downside is you already have three time only pieces so it would be a good idea to have little complication to go with your next one, which would lead us to 233 w/ in house movement and GMT function to boost.
Just my thoughts... Obviously go w/ your heart and never look back! Good luck!
a mix of them.
- PAM 26 as you do not have a BLACK case, which is really representative of the Panerai military roots
- PAM 233 as a more sophisticated movement and new Panerai history.
In fact, I would choose in your case for a PAM 317 black ceramic 1950 case, chrono-monopusher, GMT and 8 days power reserve. A future collector, as they could produce only very few / month, IMHO. But you have to be ready to wait .... beginning 2009, I think
Finally, it will be which one fit best on your wrist and your heart.
Thanks for requesting our advice.

Neither....I'm in a similiar boat, having the 217 & 249 as my favorite pams(202,232,228,188, 89...rounding out the list) but I'm really eager to get the Ceramic Pam 292.
I have hard a hard time pulling the trigger on the 233 case after wearing the 217. The 'bubble glass' distortion just doesn't feel right to me after wearing the 217/127.
The 232 is beautiful, but IMHO is not as magical as the California. AND in this case, a lot of the credit for the beauty of the 249 is due to the bubble effect of the plexiglass.
The 26 destro is very nice, you should know how nice it feels to wear a destro(217)...but there is always that scratch issue...I would get it anyways since I don't think you would loose any $ on this one.
The 307 I would venture to guess is one tough sized watch to wear.

Gee. I guess it sounds like the only thing to do is get them ALL! plus the 317 that wasn't even on the list!
Anyway, thanks for the comments, very interesting to hear the various reasons.
If I had the $$$$$$$ there would be no asking. But since I don't, I guess I still have to think about this.
Actually, my favorite ('didn't mention on purpose in the original post) was the 233, followed by the 307 (since I don't have a submersible).
But with all the comments about the 26 and the 317, maybe I should look into these a lot harder too.
I've never owned a PVD and was worried about the "getting sratched" issue on the 26. How are the PVD's in this regard?
I do, and I mean really DO babay my watches incredibly, so I am not a hard user at all and never wear any one of my watches
as a "tool watch", so I might be safe with the 26. Even my "used watches" that I bought still look "brand new", if you know what i mean.
I might ask some more too, but this at least gives me some food for thought.
Thanks again.
Ron
Or 322 if possible. (sorry to pick the one that was not on the list)
Cheers
