Its all about the lugs and depth of the case
Some watches are designed to fit around a wrist better than others.
Agree, anything bigger as 42 is almost to big but sometimes they wear smaller .
My LW is 44mm but still great on the wrist imho
Hard to wear anything over 40 for me...

Even 40 mm is too big, certainly for my wrist. I think a watch looks much nicer when the case and lugs sits shorter than the wrist margins.

A PAM should be used for it’s designed purpose. Being in or near (beach) the water.
The a PAM is in its element.

But imo a Luminor Due is somewhat insane. On the one hand they make it thinner, but that crown clasp is still on there?! I don’t get that. A Radiomir Due, that I would understand.

What are your thoughts about the size of this piece. Do you wear this regularly. I am admiring a few versions of the radiomir but always hold back due to the size. The dial is so simple and charming.

big and luminous. Big enough to see the time immediately through diving masks and luminous so that it could be done, at night underwater (where dark is REALLY dark). I agree with you and think that people that buy a 47mm Panerai for any other reason than..loving it...should have their heads examined. I wear a 47mm everyday (I own a few) and I couldn't care less about the way it fits or the way it "should" fit or how ungainly it might look to...others 
The Mare Nostrum fits you perfectly, the others simply remind you that you have a Panerai on your wrist...I think you look good with all of them!😉 [nt]

What are you all smoking to say such a thing? I have a 6.75 inch wrist and pull off a 47mm fine within the edges of my wrist, it does look big But that’s because of the height of the case. Hell my wife wears a 40mm Hulk and a A&S moon phase 42mm all the time and they fit her 6.25 inch wrist fine, again the 42mm is a little big but is defiantly fits within the width oof her wrist. I just traded my smallest watch, a 39mm, away because they ar too small, I don’t buy anything under 40mm and go to 44mm without hesitation. I like the post that said “I don’t care what other think about the fit” I say each to their own ...Jim

Big watches, but this is the original style of Panerai since over 50 years !!

I have 6-7 Rolex, the Sky-Dweller and the Explorer II are the biggest at 42, the others are 40mm, they all look and fit great as well. My wife exclusively wears the Explorer II and the Hulk. Panerai is a cool watch and made big for good reasons, the Radiomier at 47mm fits better because than the Luminor as it is thinner, I have a Pam 262 that looks/fits great on my wrist,,,Jim
I know HODINKEE Would like the whole world to return to a 35 to 37 mm case.
However my collection mostly deals with tool watches. I have a very flat 7 inch rest. The surface is just over 55 mm. I feel comfortable wearing a 47 mm Panerai. I am also planning on picking up my new branzo that’s waiting for me at the Miami boutique this week. I really don’t care what people think or say. It’s all about my comfort level and what I like. Panerai are supposed to be big, beautiful and bold. When I slip on my Calatrava It feels like I should be giving it to my four-year-old grandson. My philosophy is, where what you like and what makes you happy. I also give thanks that I can enjoy this wonderful obsession we all enjoy

It wasn’t my intent, I did say what are ALL of you smoking so it wasnt personal, just my feeble attempt at humor. What are you smokeing is just a saying form long ago to tease. I started out with Panerai and they are big watches but I love being a Paneristi. The comfort of a Luminor 47mm is not great, so good point but it isn’t all about comfort to me albeit I don’t find them unusually uncomfortable, just big as they were intended. You saying ‘They are just too Big” probably didnn’t make a lot of Paneristis on this site very happy, we are a passionate group and love our Panerai but of course each to ther own...Jim
