love it that its a sandwich dial...versus the 662...I still think had this dial been done with the 662 and sandwich..I be rocking the 662

i used to be a huge Panerai fan with well over 35-40 pieces In my collection but that number decreased dramatically throughout the years because they kept on producing more of the same and always promising us collectors that it's a one shot edition. No more of this model so you'd better grab it quickly before it's sold out.
Now back to our main topic, it's a very unusual looking watch for 2 reasons:
1) the beautiful dial with that uneven color that is truly stunning and vintage looking against the golden hands
2) the bezel that looks so much like a case back which makes the watch looks upside down.
Now I totally agree with you on the number produced. 1000 pcs is way too much for a SE. But hey what happened with the Cali 249 and SLC 449? I was one of the 10 people in the world who bought the special edition box set that contains the 3 precious metal models: 373, 376 and 379. The only thing That killed me is when panerai introduced the same models in steel in less than a year: 448 and 449. What would you make of that?
Now both Cali and SLC exist in regular production so they basically killed both watches and their collectible desirability.
Same thing happened again with the Bronzo and now we're back to 3 bronze models. I don't trust this brand anymore and believe that the management ruined the historical importance of the brand.
Back again to our topic, I guess it's a nice looking watch but don't any of them truly collectible anymore.

Excellent points, Laurent. There are two things which are not necessarily linked. Nice and collectible.
Since 2005 and the OOR, I don't believe any Panerai watch is collectible anymore.
Now, some are very nice, still. The PAM 372, the 662, the 587, this one, the 687. And a few others.
I think we should consider them for what they are, nice ( or not, depending on tastes ), and not for what they are supposed to be or for what they will become ( or not ), collectible watches, I mean.

the remaining 50%, in my opinions, boils down to: collecting vs speculating. How can one have the..expectation..that an object you buy today, goes through the roof, both in desirability and value, in the space of a couple of years??? VanGogh died dirt poor What I have seen happen, so far, is the..explosion..of an artifical bubble, created by few skillful and "connected" marketers/resellers/flippers. Only few years ago, even a 000, would be sold at a premium. This because the models, were produced in minute numbers and the "cult" insured the immediate re-sale of any model at all (except for an 88 perhaps) and the only thing you had to insure (to ride on the bandwagon) was the ability to buy them from Panerai. The LEs very seldom went to people that actually liked them. Instead were hoarded by the connected ones and re-sold/flipped in a "cloak-and-dagger-like" environment. And even the ultimate buyers didn't HAVE to like them, they just had to HAVE them and...gloat/show-off...about them That's how bubbles grow and blow. Today, you can just walk into a boutique and ACTUALLY buy an LE, at a normal price and buy it because you...like...it So, you'll have to take chances and you're not certain that couple of months down the road, you'll be able to trade them for a..condo in Miami Beach..but hey, if you have chosen wisely, first: you'll enjoy wearing it; second: your son will buy the..condo All of the above IMHO of course.

I have done it by heart and passion, and I wish I will be able to continue enjoying this activity of collecting and wearing watches in that way for life.
The day I buy watches to speculate with making a good difference in a near future, the collector/lover and pasionate for watches in me will be dead and I will be just a flipper or seller who likes watches.
Just a personal point of view of course!

30M Water Resistance? I'm out.

Dial may be too faux patina, overdone. I'd go for the 685's black dial.
But the 30M water resistance was really an eye opener. And this fact torpedoed my thoughts of owning this watch. Thank you for pointing this out!

If, for the FIRENZE/2015, you refer to the 604....
I've seen it for sale on the web. If you can't get hold of one of them, have a look at the 672 FIRENZE, which you can find in the Panerai official website, in the Special Boutique's Edition of the San Giovanni Boutique.

I've lived in Singapore, for some 20 years.
aircon+swimming pool are more important than house/apartment. Since I bought it, my 249 and I, never..ever....EVER had a problem, nor any other Panerai I've used on the pool
