There has been some interesting news today concerning GO.


First, the Senator Chronograph Panorama Date (with Stop-second and Flyback)

In Pt or RG case in 42 x 14 mm.

The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date. (same caliber)

In 40 x 40 mm, in stainless steel, with bracelet or strap.

I really like the Senator version, it a nice new entry in the collection. On the other hand it seems that the movement is a bit less taken care of compared to other GOs. Am I wrong? Or is it that familly that has a different finishing from the Panomatic for example?

Answering your question, and from the picture's look only, the level of finishing seems more related to the cal. 39-31 chronographs than to the pano line.  Thinking of it, that would be expected into a new sport evo chronograph but not on a precious metal with a cabochon at the crown!

I'm not really aware of the difference of finishing of the different lines of products for GO.

You're right that it could better fit a steel sporty line.

I love the Senator Chronograph.... I love the crown, I love the 'cleanliness' of the dial (i.e. thin numerals, thin font writing), the blue hands.... I think its beautiful. I won't comment on the movement as I would rather see in the flesh, and I haven't had a chance to see many other GO movements in the flesh, but dial side up, its ANOTHER winner for GO.... I think I could honestly have a GO only collection of watches and I would be satisfied!!! 

Yes, I see that we both like thin markings on dials.

Not sure about the placement of the movement from the back view. There seems to be a lot of space along the edges. Maybe they should have made the rim a little wider. 

I noticed that, but didn't know what troubled me. It could indeed have been treated differently (adding a ring) to better fill the case.

In-house integrated column wheel chronograph, with power reserve indicator and big date complications. Perfect for me.

I understand that many watch fans will love this watch. A really nice neo retro design indeed.

I'm guessing we will see the new movement in many more guises in the future. New Sport Evo next year anyone?

The dial is a great one and makes this Senator really appealing.

I must say in many other models, GO knows how to create nice dials.

The dial with the Romans, and the Arabics, and the subdials. AND big date.. very mixed up and busy...
But also very appealing, looks very legible, which matters on a chrono...
I do not like chronos 'in name only' such as Omega's co-xial speedy in every color except Original black--totally illegible including the Dark Side--illegible.
Many chrono's are just cool designs you can't read.

Well, this does look quite nice, but I wish GO was just a few degrees more minimal in their dials...

A few degrees more Teutonic, and I'm still not sure about that date at 6.

In steel, this would probably have been a smash hit.

In gold and pt, probably will generally languish.

Seventies... I don't know... the hour counter--again--while very legible and appreciated--is a bit unattractive.

. . . typical to Glashütte, although it's clearly not as encompassing as that of either the cal 39 (3/4) or cal 100 (< 3/4).  Both of the long-established automatic calibers are finished by hand; in my experience, there's some justification to the observation that other GUB calibers exhibit more elaborate finishing.
