Don't laugh at what some people think is art , what they are willing to pay for it and why they do it.
You will get a good laugh from "The $12 Million Stuffed Shark - The Curious Economics Of Contemporary Art" by Don Thompson. It was published in 2008 by Palgrave Macmillan.

Here is a Koons that you may find interesting -

I wouldn't call it art but, yet, it was prominently displayed in a museum. That "sculpture" is two basketballs suspended in a tank of distilled water (couldn't run the risk of some microbes deteriorating the basketballs ?)
Or, how about a Damien Hirst spot painting that was done entirely by assistants following the design by the artist [?]. This went for more than a million dollars. The list could go on and on. These prices for contemporary art and how the prices evolved is the subject of the book. Incidentally, Hirst really did purchase a dead white shark, inject it with 224 gallons of formaldehyde for preservation and place it with a gallery that sold it for 12 million dollars.
This post rates more than a "keep smiling".
Laugh out loud
