Hi,
Recently I've been venturing for good lunch/dinner deal (recent post http://www.network54.com/Forum/131774/thread/1274480595/Good+lunch+deal+in+LA%2C+anyone-+I%27ll+start+this+thread+with+Sushi+Gen...) and was inspired by Daos recent post of Fried Food Fest 2010 ( timeout.watchprosite.com ), thus last night I went to Captain Crab at San Gabriel Valley for dinner. Every last wednesday of the month, they have this promotion: 50% off everything on the menu, but cash only.
The one & only Captain Crab:
The inside decor... psss, if you're a single guy, you might want to check out this place. All waitresses are sexy & HOT and supposedly better than The Indian (a favorite place for some of LA PuristS)!!! It helps when the owner is a single man, LOL.
We started with this yummy sweet potato fries. It was so popular that they ran out of my 2nd order, and it was only 7:30 pm PST :-(
Fried calamari, hmm... tasty! As good as the onion ring (which I forgot to take picture of).
A dozen of fanny bay oyster:
A close up of the oyster:
The interesting thing of this place is that all of the cooked seafood were served in plastic bag. The hardwood table was lined with paper and as there wasn't real proper utensils or plates to use, the patrons simply eat & 'spit' (aka leave all the shells) on the table.
Clams with their special Captain's choice sauces (Rajun Cajun, Lemon Pepper, Garlic Butter). I like spicy food, however this order with medium spiciness was enough to tingle my tounge.

Close up of the clam:
2 1/4 pounds of dungenese crab, cooked with the same sauce.
After a long day of work, what a satisfying meal I had last night! And all of these cost us only US$60 (tax & service charge all inclusive)! Isn't this a good deal? Does any PuristS have any recommendation for other good deal dining places?
Regards,
ATM

. There're a few of this type of restaurants in San Gabriel Valley area, but IMO Captain Crab is the best so far, as it's not as greasy as the other places.

... Just don't get into too much trouble with the ladies, LOL.that is the similar type of menu..
great place for beer+seafood and a ball game..but bad for the cholestrol count..
enjoyed the experience but found the salt too much to take a few hours later...
and be mindful of the wait at Broiling Crab...crazy wait times..and no reservations taken
Hi Ocwatching,
There's a few in San Gabriel Valley. I've been to the one at Valley & Garfield. IMO, the food there is a bit oily, a tad too much butter. And the wait on the weekend sure is long
Have a good weekend,

...when are you taking me???!!!
It all looks marvelous! I'm foaming at the mouth! We must go together soon! Agreed?
Thanks (or maybe not!) for the awesome pictures! I'm so hungry right now!
Cheers,
Daos

Hi, ATM,
Captain Crab used to have some of the best fish and chips I've had anywhere, and their fried oysters...yum! The fish in the fried fish fillet was soooo moist and tender...
But oh my what a mess!
The batter looks a little dark in your pic, I hope they haven't changed their recipe for the batter.
Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the tips=I got to try out their fish & chips and fried oyster at the end of this month then
. The batter color is darker, mainly from my picture... I got to upgrade my blackberry, LOL.
