I have to agree with the wasp

One difference is that I didn't take to it even from pictures. I thought it looked out of place with the striped hand. I eventually picked up the Aqua Terra with the not so amagnetic movement, the "older" 8500 teak dial in a much better 38.5mm size. I was looking for a daily beater then, a real "go anywhere, do anything" watch and I have to say that it's not failed me, plus the accuracy on those 8500's are amazingly good.

Thanks for the pictorial review.

38.5? Do you have any photos?

I really like the look but when comes down to it I prefer the orange.

Here you go...quick pics on the fly. I agree that the color schema may not be as attractive as the new versions, but this one works for me, especially as a daily beater. The hour hand reaches to the indices better than the 41.5 version, and raised date window balances against the indices, although the shadow cast on the date itself can make it a little more difficult to read depending on the angle.

Thank you, the size looks perfect! :) [nt]

The mid-size version . . .

. . . works best for me as well.

These images were taken over three years ago in the Omega boutique.  Might well have bought one then had I not just acquired the El Primero months earlier.

Hard pressed to think of another watch that fits the 'daily beater' bill more effectively than this one.

. . . and the answer is 'no'.

The good news is that the 38.5 mm mid-size version of the AT annual calendar . . .

. . . is still in current production.  Well worth taking a look at next time you're in an Omega boutique.
