A brief history of Apollo-Soyuz Speedmaster

 By: mstanga : June 9th, 2012-04:24
Hi Nicolas, here is what you asked me.

the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project was the last mission in the Apollo program and was the first joint flight of the U.S. and Soviet space programs. The mission took place in July 1975.

This is a commemorative edition watch in 500 pieces of the "orbital-randezvous" between American APOLLO and Russian SOYUZ spacecraft.

This speedmaster is full of particularity such as:

- limited edition of 500 (the serial number of each one movement must exactly fit into a determined range 39.180.xxx - 39.181.xxx)
(it is mandatory to obtain a specific extract of archives from Omega indicating that this specific serial number corresponds to that specific limitation number on the back)
- stunning mission's LOGO on the DIAL
- for the first time OMEGA do not indicate "Speedmaster" on the dial
- Pushers are incredibly big, the biggest ever 5,5mm.
- a wonderful back
- the bracelet is ref. 1168 with end links 633 very similar to an OYSTER from ROLEX
- very long indexes like in 321 dials

 Ciao Marco

(extract from a journey through time)

For many reasons this is one of my most desired Speedmasters. 1975 was my birth year, I studied cold war politics a an undergrad and Apollo Soyuz was intrinsically linked to my other favourite vintage Omega through Alexi Leonov (Cal 911 flightmaster). Your example Marco is spectacular. Thanks so much for sharing. Zac

Very nice watch, thanks for posting. Z' [nt]

...  Really nice piece. Already with nice patina on the indexes and hands .. In my opinion a little underestimated

Great catch and thank you for sharing
