Hello everyone!

. . . I'm no expert, but the dial looks original to my eyes, and the movement is likely an Omega icon, either a 30T1 or 30T2.

Can you provide macro images of the movement and inside of the caseback?

Hi Franco,

I think you may have overlooked that it is a center sec watch, so the movement you show can´t be inside...

I think it will have a Cal. 23.4 SC inside - just a guess from the case size and dial design.

...and "authentic". So better to see some tighter shots of the dial as well as a pic with the caseback off so we can see what's in it.

...  as far as I know, these were watches for the French market. Imported by Omega Frances, and assembled at the Omega France facility in Besancon. Usually both dial and movement are labelled Fab.Suisse - and if you ask the Omega extract it will appear as a movement shipped to Omega France.

I think it was for tax purposes, something about importing whole watches as opposed to parts.

Those hands are common hands seen in the  Omega in the 30s, not just on the 23.4 - seen them also on some early 30mm, on 33.3 s etc.

you might as well take the back off. if you make one more it wont matter, photograph all the details in macro if possible then when you get it serviced have the worst scratches polished out. once thats done you wont need to open it again, but if you do you need a very thin bladed penknife to take off a snap back. these 'tools' they sell are too thick and dont fit into the slot hence the scratches. i was lucky enough to buy a tim of old watchmakers stuff and there was a penknife sharpened so thin that it is perfect.

i look forward to seeing whats inside and what Omega say. i love those old hands which obviously fit the dial perfectly.

a very nice piece that no doubt will be even better without much effort.

I often use an old Swiss Army knife, but for the tighter cases and to do as little damage as possible, box cutters (some with the retractible blade) tend to work the best.
