Hi guys,

I must confess that I have been a little upset and bored by the countless stories about the Speedies...

And the worst thing: I did not own a single one!

So I made my mind up to join the club...

I must confess - I have done it! 

Here it is: 145.022 - 68 with the old fashioned applied metal logo like on the 321 dials...

It is in pretty good shape and has a nice patina on the luminous markers. The bezel may benefit from a replacement if I find a reasonable one...

The movement is like fresh out of the factory and keeps time  very well - so it is a daily companion for me!

I put it on a Nato strap and it wears very comfortably on the wrist - I had been afraid that the watch would not fit my rather slim wrist, but surprisingly it does due to the strap...

Now I am a proud member of the club - hurray!

I am in the same situation, but I didn't add one, for the moment...

It seems that the next step is unavoidable, as I already own 2 Seamasters 300, and I want to end my Omega Collection with a Vintage Railmaster, and... The Speed!

I didn't already decide what Speed I will hunt, but I will have one!

Congrats, yours is superb.

I wouldn't change the bezel, unless you find one authentic NOS, or in great condition.

Take it from someone who has seen literally hundreds of bezels in 60s speedmasters and that is easily among the best 20% of bezels I have seen.

I do understand you and remember having been truly bored as well in 1991 - was more or less pushed into buying a 145.022 by an eager salesperson in Aachen (..as an omega collector you should have at least..). Since there was nothing else of interest I did so (possibly good 'trade" stuff..?) and found it a funny looking case when viewed from the side.

After reading however about the connection Omega - Lémania, constructor Albert Piquet, visiting the factory in l'Orient and all the NASA-test stories, my admiration has grown and grown. For the last 18 years I'm perfectly happy with it.

Welcome to the pleasuredome of Speedies.

I have a 145.022 - 68 with the similar problem, the scratches on the bezel. I have decided to leave it as is (for now) as it is a part of this unique history of my particular watch

But anyway, welcome to the club

Nice catch! I know what you mean, I just got the Speedy bug mid last year and during a trip to Tokyo, I acquired one from late 80's-early 90's. And tempted again with older versions, I got a cal 321 from 1966.

My question is, was this dial avaliable on 145-022? Thought it was only meant for previous models...
But anyway, congrats again!

Nice 'transitional' speedy you've got there - looks nice and original.

I'm another who'd vote for keeping that nice original bezel.
