i have previously posted pics of all 3 of my sm300's omega.watchprosite.com i sent the last one off for a full refurb and pressure test and its done and should be back friday. its had new dial, hands(original stick hands which i believed were unavailable), crown, bezel, case buff and movement service all done by an Omega trained chappy at a price which is less than the price of a bezel on fleabay. he says it looks superb and as new so i'm looking forward to it coming back.
the question is 'what strap do i put on it'.
choices so far are: 1. steel mesh bracelet. 2. a black/khaki nato. 3. a carbon fibre look waterproof leather. 4. a shell cordovan which to be honest i cant afford at the moment. pennies are very tight. or something else?
opinions please
best

I think the best strap will be a nice black NATO, no harm can be done with that IMO. And they're cheap !
Filip

would this work?
...a proper Admiralty Grey G10/NATO.
Is this the one that you got refurbished with the intent that it was 'fit for purpose'? In which case, the strap should also be fit for purpose. Thus, the aforementioned G10/NATO or the mesh.
...some getting used to. It seems so pale, but it definitely grows on you and is so appropriate.
I guess you could try it while waiting for other options arrive, if it doesn't work for you, Vernon won't have to miss out!

While I prefer either Black or Admiralty Grey G10/NATOs, that looks really good.
How do you find the height of the watch when worn?
On my less wrist-hugging watches, I usually cut off the keeper strap to lower the profile. I only leave it on watches that feel like they're going to slide down the strap - such as the big case Super Compressors, whose lug location doesn't provide enough friction.
They raise them by about 3+mm....Only on my watches for diving....you hit them on every door frame....stay away with that Polaris.
Though, when you cut the keeper off, they make a good key-tag.

Nicolas, Please help me find the source of your strap! I've been stymied as to its origin. I;m a nato lover & have many yet this one has eluded me!

it arrived 40 minutes ago (give or take a second) and i've already tried it on a grey nato and its now on black rubber with steel deployment clasp.
the watch is fabulous and i'm pleased i had it done. its been pressure tested down to a true 30m which is enough for anything i want to do with it. i can hardly get to the bottom of a 3m swimming pool so it should be safe. i got all the old stuff back with it so if i ever sell it can be retro fitted, but i'm very very happy with the result.

i've also ordered the black/khaki nato and a lovely brown shell cordovan to try. i like the idea of the brown cordovan on this and the nato on the other one with patinated dial.
i will at some stage post 'the 3 wise monkeys' pics of my sm300's, but i'll wait until the straps arrive.
well what do you think of the refurb? 1964, as good as new and total cost less than a watchco version. sorted
enjoy
