They other brands are not mentioned … just the genta designer name that is overused to the point of it being the thing I laugh about. Genta had as many flops as he did successes … so one can’t read about a royal oak or a nautilus without hearing of the brilliance of ship window … diver helmet … and any other nautical part that he supposedly used for his inspiration.
+1 - it was a lucky punch with the right timing and message. Nevertheless a great design. That does not mean other designs would not be great…

That publication is interesting, it encourages me to think that Girard Perregaux is possibly about to revive that model, those 70s models are coming back, VC already did it with its new 222, AP never strayed from its 1972 Royal Oak model, PP with its nautilus from 1976 either, or like the IWC.ingenieur 1976.
I imagine that when naming Gerald Genta it is for those models that he gave life and flag, as it was with AP Royal Oak, PP with the Nautilus, and IWC with the Ingenieur.
but there are other iconic models that were born independently like this GP Quartz, or like the very famous Rolex Oyster Quartz of which Rolex should certainly put its batteries and release a new one on its 50th anniversary (1977-2027).

1. I love this picture and marketing by GP. It appeared yesterday on IG.
2. It’s clear. We did not need Genta to come in a design a watch for us as AP did then Patek and then IWC.
3. Perhaps also to clarify as many still think that Genta designed the laureato as well. Pretty much as they thought they genta designed the Vacheron Overseas too. So GP is being bold and clear and cheeky. 😀
4. Agree they the rolex oyster quartz would is an iconic and rare piece and it get lost sometimes in all the noise from the usual suspects frok the 1970s.
5. The laureato 50th anniversary will come up in 2025. (1975-2025). I don’t think a quartz movement but but I do think something of smaller case size and quite special.
6. I see the laureato models starting to trend to the smaller case size (as with all the other brands). I did a detailed video review of the laureato 36,38,40 (chrono laureato olimpico 8017), 41, 42 mm all side by side if anyone is interested. I can’t post videos here but you can see it at the laureato fan club facebook group if you like.
So yeah, I love this post by GP. I think many are getting tired of the genta name being used to sell watches. The recent IWC iginieur marketing was more about genta than the watch itself. I would go get the originals myself and not both with the re-issue.

that is wierd u find laureato is related to genta in the cyber world ? What i know is one italian architect name adolfo natalini is mentioned
This erroneous appreciation of some people does not come so much from the Internet but rather from the 80s. As you know, in the 80s Genta's fame was already well established, since he had also participated in designs with models from Cartier, Hamilton, Bulgari , Seiko, Timex among others. giving them a "Sporty chic" as they said at the time, so many people at that time knew him as the creator and innovator of many models of the moment, assuming that all those models that resembled his most iconic creations in (PP, AP , IWC) were also his authorship, neither GP, VC, nor Rolex OQ were free of these comments or erroneous assumptions, which many assumed were also within their umbrella.
