Tried on 42 mm Laureato today. Blue dial is 42 mm. Silver dial is 38 mm. My wrist is 7 inches. Honest opinion, is the blue 42 mm too big for my wrist? Thanks for looking!

Very comfortable on my wrist . I always tend to go smaller than bigger. A watch that’s too big for my wrist looks like I’m trying too hard 😂

There is no question, the 42 mm makes a bolder statement and is the option with more wrist presence

Everything comes down to relative proportion.  42 mm gives you a better wrist presence whereas 38mm looks tight and small on your wrist even though 38mm has a better overall proportion in itself.  My 42mm Laureato wears like a charm on my 8 inch wrist and I wear it like a 38mm on someone with smaller wrist.  It would have been perfect if it was 40mm or 41 mm in your case.  Enjoy whatever that makes you happy. 

But another question: is the 38mm version too small? 

After wearing the 38 mm for three weeks, it may be a bit small. The size / proportion of the dial, markers, hands and date look better on 42 mm version. They are all a touch small on 38 mm option. So this is why I am considering the 42 mm. Thanks for the tip on pics from further away. I did check the size in the mirror, but did not get any pics from that angle. Cheers

I would go with the 42. 

Is the way I see it too. Almost like GP built and designed the Laureato to be 42 mm for its modern day creation. Where the proportions on the 38 are a bit off. 38 was my first and only impression. Until I tired on the 42 today 😎. Thanks for weighing in

Ok some shots the 42 mm looks ok. In others it looks a little big.

And in some shots the 38 mm looks ok, and in others it looks a little small.

Take some pics from afar and send them and we can judge better.

Try to stop thinking watches in terms of case size alone. Dial size, thickness, lug to lug, lug width all impact.

When you take pics and want to compare, take the exact same wrist position etc with both standing up from 5’ away with the help of a friend. Then you will have clarity.

Thank you Marc. After wearing the 38 mm for a few weeks I do actually think the dial, markers, hands and date are a bit small. Thickness of both is ideal, streamlined and thin. Lug to lug is def safer on 38. Whereas lug to lug on 42 is near the limit, like literally 2 mm more and I’d pass on the 42. One of the biggest differences for me is lug and bracelet width. It’s noticeably bigger on 42, which also gives the impression of a larger wearing watch. I looked at the 42 mm size in the mirror at a distance of 5 feet, and it looked fine. Unfortunately I did not get pics of this angle

I have said this before … west a 42 mm for a few days and then try on a 38 mm and it will seems small.

The opposite applies as well.

Maybe don’t buy anything for now and just wear your 38 mm silver and have some quiet time with it?

1=36 mm
2=38 mm
3=41 mm
4=42 mm

Appreciate you sharing! The best examples are pics 1 and 2. It further drives home my wish that GP made this latest version 40 mm. It’s entirely possible that 38 is a bit too small and 42 mm is a bit too big. So I will choose between the 2, as they are the versions I like the most

It is also the most expensive.

I don’t know if you are a “serious collector” or just purely based on looks and such but if “serious” then get the 41 mm … it’s the one with most provenance and it’s a limited edition. In the futures I believe they will get harder and more expensive to find.

I have a model in 42 mm and 2 models in 35, honestly it's just a matter of appreciation 🤷‍♂
I admit that the Laureato in 40 mm crossed my mind.
The future will tell.
