The picture shows a Chopard Manafacture stamp and is 15/150 in the series so it can’t be the new case

Nico’s picture shows the same polished surface it’s just less visible. I can’t follow the story here but whatever the “case” enjoy whatever you have.

I have a Seiko pocket watch with a custom see through caseback, nowhere near as nice but I like to put it on my desk movement side up and just look at it while working.

Are you keeping the original dial?
Assuming you're keeping the original dial, the crown location will be at 12 o'clock. Short, wide lugs would work, similar to the original holder. If you look at other Chopard LUC cases from the era where these hands were the signature, you can see the lugs were typically thick and squat.
You could consider doing a driver's style watch, where the watch face is rotated, similar to the Vacheron Historiques 1921. Moving the crown away from the lugs will open up more possibilities in terms of lug designs, and a driver's style watch is consistent with Chopard's ties to motorsports.
If you're changing the dial, so the crown is not at 12 o'clock, you could go for an RGM style case, with the lugs turned downward to allow the strap to fit a modest wrist.

This is even more true when it comes to old pocket watches. The main problem is to find someone able to make a nice SS case for these amazing movements. This one is such a beauty, but what about the old minute repeater etc...?

That really is a beautiful L.U.C. Chopard movement.
If as it appears it came from the watch amanico posted I am a bit surprised but I suppose no one really knows just why it was done. As someone that has recently scrapped a gold watch I can't really say anything bad about it, but the watch I scrapped was nowhere near as special as the Chopard. On the bright side you recused the movement and will find it a nice case to live in and you will have a very special and unique watch.
