Really? I have heard the crown is a bit fragile but never had a problem with mine or any AP I've had. Must be lucky 🤷♂️😁

If ever again, I would only wear it in place. The 15400 I had was much much more durable.
I have seen this a couple times but probably due to the crown stem and none screw down crown...
I assume AP repaired the crown? So what happened to the watch?
AP repaired it and then scratched the bracelet and bezel...
So I sent it back for re-polish when it was not needed in the first place.
Timekeeping was not that good when it came back, and I was not as happy with the re-polish as I had hoped, so I ended up letting it go.
Very happy with the VC which replaced it, love the 15202, just seemed to fragile for me.
Maybe get it again later, I don’t know. But not in this market.

No excuse for bad service, especially with the amounts we are spending on these watches (toys/trinkets).
I have ZERO tolerance for bad customer service. They should have resolved the crown issue and then if they damaged your watch while doing so, they should have repaired that as well or provide you with another. Just good business practice and pays off in multiples if one were to look forward instead of backwards.
Not trying to blame AP as I am sure this happens with anyone BUT they is a sensible way to handle things if one wants to do it the right way 🤷♂️ And your VC Overseas 4500V that replaced it is an amazing watch which I would like to add to the collection eventually. I find it far better than any of the newer APs but just not the same as the 15202ST as I think them differently.

I think because it was serviced under warranty they didn’t take much care of it.
They, the Clear Water service center, usually take a video of the watch when it arrives. They never took a video of mine.
Honestly, I was over the watch at that time. I respect it for being first, in the luxury sport watch category, but I don’t know.
It’s been 1972 since that movement was released, I hope AP can make it more robust and more water resistant. It was a 22k watch when I bought it from the boutique, 25k now I think, just saying.

I get it and understand your point. The 15202ST and 5402 before are NOT known for their durability, practicality, etc...
They represent an idea and image of AP and the watch industry in general. The market is fickle, really. The 15300ST, 15400ST, and 15500ST are superior in tech and performance as a watch and an evolution of the series BUT they do not have the history, images or charm of the 15202ST.
The JLC based 920 caliber in the 15202ST, VC, and original Nautilus is more robust than you would think. I just think you were unlucky with yours. I have played gold, squash, and tennis with mine without a hiccup 🤷♂️
There is no rhyme or reason to collecting or what determines market forces and values.

Just happened to me!
I've owned my E-series silver dial 15202ST for twenty years. Never serviced. Wound up fine last week, gently pulled crown out to set hands, and the crown and stem came right out. I guess it's practical that the time setting screw gets loose over the years, but still quite surprising. At Clearwater now for a service and extra link added. Will report back.
Please make sure they take a video of your watch when it arrives,
So if they caused scratches, they are liable for it.
