SIHH 2016: a wristshot of the Royal Oak Double balance wheel openworked

This watch is in my top 3 of the fair. A superb work by AP and the enlarged case is fine here thanks to the movement lay-out and the strong presence of the balance bridge.
Greubel Forsey presented something similar.. "This new mechanism redefines the limits of timekeeping. Two inclined balances optimise performance in a stable position, while a constant spherical differential provides more steady amplitude."
To improve the stability of the movement operation.

There is no differential here nor resonance effect. The idea is to make the balance wheels oscillations more stable even in vertical position. We have here two balance wheels and two hairsprings and the objective is to make them auto-regulate. It is NOT the same system seen in the Millenary Quadriennium or with Moser (two hairsprings only). the fact they are bound together means that any external influence affect the chronometry. they should accelerate or slow down simultaneously. still trying to figure out where is the improvement
How legible is it? It's no doubt a stunning piece, but I would have hoped for the movement parts between 6 and 9 o'clock to be of a different color to allow for a better contrast with the gold hands. Hope to see it in the metal later this year.
from the look of a picture, it seems like there is too much space without an index at 12.. This message has been edited by kunmoo on 2016-01-28 15:31:14
