... Yes, Happy with my new find, and my first Memovox for my collection.

After viewing so many beautiful examples of this classic shown here, my collector heart decided that I was "needing" one example of my own.

Though not easy to find in my Country, I came across this one, which I felt was a nice one, in spite of the fact that it seems that a previous owner changed or painted black its original hands.

Case is rose gold, and it is in very good overall condition, and its movement working perfectly, including the alarm feature.

As per my research, this is a reference E 853 (etanche, as per its screwed back), equiped with a P815 movement, automatic bumper, and vintage circa 1958. I hope our Memovox experts will confirm this.

This is my first Memovox, and my first alarm watch, so I´m very excited with my new member of my collection, which I wish will receive the Ok from the experts.

.... I remember afte I got my first memo, my life has changed so much, you can see my memo collection has been growing significantly.

But having said that, I did enjoy the collection journey.

With the Memovox, you own a milestone in the watch history, a cult watch.

The E 853 is a superb reference: The same than a E 855, but without a date, housing, indeed, a Cal 815.

if you give us the movement number, we will date it for you.

As for the hands, go on the bay, there are quite a lot of hands for the Memo, for sale.

... and I´m glad you like this piece, which is my introduction to the Memovox theme.

I´ll try to take the screw back off or to take the watch to my watchmaker to do so.

I´ve been comparing my watch with two pieces in the book about JLC, which I found are in a similar serial numer case range, and both are from the 1958 year.

Of course, I know that the movement serial number is the definitive clue to dating a JLC watch. Will see if I can reach it, and will tell you. It is always nice to date our pieces, of course.

Not many around in good condition.

Good Dauphine hands are a bit tricky to find, but with some patient...

At least Gold is easier to find than SS.

PS. Once in, never out - the Memovox is an endless lovestory with a lot of "side-rivers": divers, back dials, silver dials, funky, manual, automatics, bumper autos....

I know about your fondess for Memovoxes, and understan it is a very large field of collecting. May be as complex and wide as Rolex, which is my main interest in watches.

I became interested in owning at least one Memovox, after reading posts here (many from you) and getting the Memovox virus while appreciating so many wonderful photographs and examples.

Now I understand that to explore new collecting fields, has its own risks, specially getting captured by falling in love with the watches. Memovoxes are really loveable. Now I´m thinking about an steel specimen, with black dial. Though they are pretty rare down here, I´ll be keeping my eyes well opened!
