The good news is that you won't ruin yourself if you want to get a Vintage JLC. There are still affordable, well, some of them.

Memovox E 850 and SHOM 159: A pair of lovely watches.
The Memovox E 850 and the SHOM 159 don't have, on the paper, a lot in common.
One is an alarm, and the other is a toolwatch, used by the Service Hydrographique et Oceanographique de la Marine ( French Marine )
But, when you put them side by side, there is an air de famille, and an obvious one:
Ok, the 2d crown on the E 850 reveals its additional function, but we have the same creamy dial ( or is it Champagne? ), the same radium numbers which pace the hours, the same radium blue losange hands, and almost the same diameter of their respective case ( 33 mm for the E 850 / 34 mm for the " SHOM " ).
It is time to see some fresh pics of them.
1/ The E 850, and its delicious blue accents on the dial:
2/ The SHOM, with its typical " Fab Suisse " Signature, revealing its french destination:
Both of them share its slice of history.
Personal, for the E 850, which belonged to a german hunter, if I got it well...

I love the Font for the dia l and the blue hands.

Impossible not to turn a JLC addict while watching these photographs, and those other watches you have shown previously.
Vintage JLC always show this "familar air" you mention, in their classic and clean design, so minimalist, so pure.
I love these watches, and only regret not being able to own every watch I like or admire. Life is made of compromises, and you can have everything, of course.
Anyway, at least one or two (or a bit more) JLC is a must in a collection.
I only have one vintage, which I will gladly present here in a near future, and a second one is reserved (you know, "the red") eagerly waiting for it! I wish I will cross my path with another one in a near future. Radar is always on.
