Hi guys,

So I'm in love with this watch... then I start wondering... is there a totalizer for the chrono?

It seems that there is not.

So does the chrono hand just fly around and add up to nothing except beautiful?

I too went through the puzzlement of what is in this watch...

The subseconds display is not chronographic - I believe it always spins, showing time zip along. And it can do this I guess because there is a barrel to power the indicators, which is separate to the barrel powering the escapement. It is showing off the splendour of the Duometre design !

I got over the puzzlement and realised how much I love that watch!

This is not a Chrono, my friend!

You have two second hands, one jumping at 6, but other " normal ".

Both are hacking.

Both seconds hands are hacking, and bring a little more. Here is what I wrote last year:

"As I wrote about hacking the watch, in fact I must explain. If you pull the crown it stops the seconds hand immediately and the lighting seconds hand keeps running till it stops at 0. The other indicators are stopped too but you obviously can't notice it. If you pull again lightly the crown the central seconds hand goes back to 0, pushed by a heart cam like those used for resetting chronograph hands.

Once you push back the crown at the desired moment the hands and all indicators begin running again. At this precise time the escapement is still at full precision as it was not stopped and is not interfered by the re-activation of the indicators."

but isn't the 'lightning' seconds hand a little distracting running so fast on the dial..?  Rotating once a second when there is another second hand seems a little odd, I don't get it.

PS - Nico is there an embargo on the new Perpetual..? We've seen your 2 pics but there isn't a single write up anywhere on the net or even a mention on the JLC site...just curious.

But to make it short, the purpose of the Duometre à Q.L is the precision.

The second hands hack and both reset to zero.

A precision at a 1/6 th of second.

As for the Master 8 Days Perpetual, I have several issues:

First I " lost " my brand new computer and working on my old computer is painful, as it bugs every 2 or 3 hours.

Then, I lost the pics I took on this watch.

BUT, I will prepare something in March, as I will see it again in let's say 2 / 3 weeks?

I did wonder what the beauty of the Duometre QL was, but as you explain it's about precision then I understand more

No worries about the Perpetual and no rush, I was just curious as there isn't a mention of it anywhere...one site which did have some pics has removed them so I just assumed an embargo.

That's pretty darn unique. Thank you all for replies!!! I think this officially makes this a 'crazy' watch... which I may actually like MORE now... how fascinating and highly eccentric. Poetically, you have the absolute micro-expression of lightning fast time , and the cosmically slow, eternal moon... The fast--connecting us to earthly matters, our jobs, appointments, even the extreme speed of our phones and the internet... The moon, connecting us to the big picture... that time still moves slowly... and is beyond our human comprehension, except in dreams, for which the moon is a symbol... I share your enthusiasm and WOW factor...i will see one (proto)in a couple of weeks,then decisions,decision.....

Hard to understand at first but a true Purists watch,,,a watch to purchase for its virtues,,,and in this version for the sheer beauty!

A complete Purist s watch I repeat,,,not only a pretty face,,,,my fav 2011 SIHH by a mile....
