Don't be mistaken, this is not the Small Red Book, the most famous in the world.

But, for us, watchnuts and avid JLC Collectors, it is one of the most important.

It is related to an important and very interesting era, for " La Grande Maison ", as you will soon understand.

All is in the Title, just a name, but which speaks a lot: " JUBILE ".

Let's see the content, now...



First chapter... I was not wrong, it is all about JLC!





A captivating story...It is all about Expeditions and Explorers, Scientific Missions, Submarines and Horological History, narrated with Class, Style and Elegance.





The book, which is summed to its title, and the watch share the same philosophy: " Less is more ".

Chapter 2, an unavoidable meeting with another great Hero, the Memovox Parking, the driver's best friend.... And, another piece of the Jubilé Collection:



The " Book " was released in 1958, for the 125th Anniversary of the " Grande Maison ", and was used for the Géophysic ( but maybe also for the other watches of the Jubilé Family? )

This box is such a great idea that I hope to see JLC thinking about it, and more than just thinking about, releasing it.

It has all the virtues: It is small, original, nicely made, so it can be stored on your shelves, at the contrary of most of the modern boxes, which weight a ton, and take too much room in our vital space.

I still need to find the perfect suitcase to travel with my watches, but it will be hard to find, unless Clavi remembers my Birthday Date...

Love both pieces, you already know it, specially the Géophysic. That Parking Memovox is a very funny watch, love it too.

Mine doesn't have the watch...

...but it has the actual story written in it !

 

(BTW, correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think that the Geophysic came wit this JL signed buckle...which appeared much later)

...to your awesome collection?  You always bring out a new surprise.

So, your book is actually a book and not a watch box?  May we see more???

That book is amazing.  I, too, wish JLC would deliver some modern watches in such a box.

There was a marketting idea under the Jubilé, but not only....

Marketting " on air " is nothing, but when there is an idea behind, like on these watches, this is just great.

Packaging, watches, a great inspiration, indeed.

I am astonished too see how much distances you are going to near satisfy your hobby.

 

This is another of your great find.  What’s I find amazing about collectors is their richness often places the object second or downer.  Indeed it is about histories, cultures and environments that make those watches so invaluable.

In regards to the general debate on watch boxes....
as I wrote before, the solution could be for the big boxes to come with useful travel cases/boxes....

I love the "book," Nicolas!  It's most certainly surpassed by what's inside however!  Those are some gorgeous watches!  My heart is thumping out of my chest!  I love the watches, and their unique presentation.

I still have to check if this special box alsom came for the other Jubilé Watches.

JLC should " dig " this idea, IMO...They could release it in a nice red Vintage leather, for example, for a very special watch, and in a less luxurious finish, but in the same " vein " for more current watches...
