Who would think this is a good idea? I have the feeling they want to position the brand differently. New target groups etc. This is the only way the product and pricing approach makes somehow sense to me.
Manager 1: "We need to increase sales." Manager 2: "My mother buys more cosmetics at the department store when they offer a free pouch and lipstick with her purchase." Manager 3: "We don't have a JLC lipstick, but we can offer a JLC pouch." Manager 1: "Let's offer a pouch. But how should we market it?" Manager 3: "Considering it works in Manager 2's Mother's case, we should just offer a free pouch with a purchase and put this in our marketing message." Manager 2: "In big letters too, so the client will see it. My mother wouldn't buy the cosmetics if the lipstick and pouch gift with purchase weren't mentioned in big letters and with a big picture. And make sure we use the word "POUCHETTE" as this will make the Americans think it's a nicer pouch!" Manager 1: "I'll ask marketing to make it very big and to use the word "POUCHETTE." Please thank your mother on our behalf for this great idea! Next order of business. How big should our next price increase be? How soon shall we have it?" Manager 3: "Another 10% and next month! Got to strike while customers are in demand. And while we're promoting our free pouchette!"
Ridiculous. Only helps devalueing the brand image and making a fool of watch lovers who primarily seek intrinsic value and quality in a watch. Neoprene for sinking deeper🧐
To me, this 100% justifies a $3000 price increase. Frankly, I wasn't considering a Polaris because the watch does nothing for me but since seeing this I sent an email to the boutique to order one with one question: Do I get one with EACH Polaris I order, or is it a lifetime limit of one? The answer will obviously have a big impact on how many I buy.
EDIT: I just noticed it says, "every purchase of a JLC Polaris Watch." My Visa limit will only afford me three right now so that is what I will order.
It's a total game changer and the only reason I don't own a Patek is because they don't offer this exclusive service. This really says to all other brands, "Sit down and take note."
Clearly, members here have forgotten Mme Renier's mission to achieve Belle Horlogerie, which this clearly accomplishes to a T (i.e. perfectly). A true "drop the mike" moment.
Glad to see we all still are fond of the Grande Maison...
