I bought this watch to celebrate surviving 43 years on this crazy planet. To celebrate some professional achievements as well as some personal ones. I’ve never bought a ‘nice’ or expensive watch before so it’s uncharted territory for me. I became obsessed with the Reverso and spent the last 3 weeks obsessively shopping and searching for this exact model!
Reverso Grande Ultra Thin Duo!
All mine. Am so in love. Have really enjoyed reading this forum and waiting for it to arrive.
I tried over 50 different watches over the past few months after falling in love with the Reverso just to make sure it’s really what I love and I easily confirmed to myself it is. I just went with how I felt not any consensus. Really lovely to talk to other Reverso owners too. Many thanks to you!!
Excellent choice! Big congratulations, this Reverso will give you a lot of pleasure. And congratulations also for your great taste. For a first watch, what a watch! [nt]
I have read many posts by you and you have a wealth of information. Amazing really. Am so very happy to own a Reverso and it’s been a very exciting day for me. It is indeed my first ever nice watch and I couldn’t be happier. Many thanks!!!
It’s been endless hours stalking photos of the watch, calling dealers, calling sellers, contacting Jaeger themselves. Looking for alternatives, laying in bed staring at ideas. But this one stood out to me. Over and over again! As with everything the journey is a big part of the experience and I have enjoyed this process a lot.
I was nervous about spending so much. Nervous about buying something so nice. Nervous about what my wife would think of it. Nervous about whether I’d be disappointed.
But everything has been positive. I opened the box with my 4 year old son and kissed him on the head and told him “one day this watch will be yours” and took a photo with him and the watch.
In my opinion this is one of the nicest JLC daily wearers with a fantastic complication and 'ultra-thin' (translation: maybe not really ultra-thin but, more importantly, it's a reasonable and comfortable thickness even with the dual dials). This may be your first 'nice' watch, but seriously you could walk away from the hobby (if you wanted to) and know that you've selected one of the best.
Since I was a teenager I fantasized about one day buying a really ‘nice’ watch. I didn’t know what this watch would be and for years I didn’t. Until I encountered the Cartier Tank and JLC Reverso. My entire perspective changed. I became immersed in learning about Reversos. This one in particular really caught my eye with its more monochrome appearance and simplicity. I had to have it!!! Appreciate your kind words
Your journey is your journey! I wouldn’t call them mistakes more like clouds you’ve jumped on to get somewhere else. The Reverso concept jumped right into me the second I went to the Jaeger store here in NY. I was totally enamored since! Many thanks!!
It’s really great to see that reverso is your choice for your first. For some (like me) it takes a while to get to a reverso. Congrats. As the saying goes, it’s the watchmaker of watchmakers.
I had been searching for many years to find what I wanted and when I first encountered the Reverso in person I immediately knew it was the one. I didn’t think I could afford it. I almost backed out. But ultimately I knew this was the time and this was the watch so I dove right in.
We all have different journeys and I’m sure yours is beautiful in a different way!!
you have chosen an amazing piece. The best thing with this watch is your passion though. Im pretty sure that you will like your watch in 10+ years just as much as you do today, because your piece is so over-classic that it never should feel old. I guess JLC tried to modernize the Reverso line up a bit in the last couple of years wich i think is not a good thing, and yours is just true to the original reverso because the "minuterie" of the seconds hand does look so lovely antique, not like the more "modern" versions with a round version of it. Amazing! And you gave me a good idea what a should look after in the future. Thank you for your post!
I wanted the most traditional looking and timeless looking piece I could get. The 1931 tributes fit the description but I wanted something thin and longer so the ultra thin grande really hit the spot. But even more important was that I didn’t want the JLC logo and I didn’t want the more rounded small seconds as you mentioned. I wanted very traditional with minimal shiny stuff so the black hands and black dial really hit the spot.
In essence the monochromatic aesthetics of this really appealed to me because one of my other hobbies is B
