Horological Meandering

Ah, the Gronefeld! Or, as I like to call it . . .

 By: Dr No : December 9th, 2012-23:33
. . . my favorite watch that could've been the inspiration . . .

. . . for a bumper sticker ;-) . . .

Indeed!

Lots of potential "Hertz" jokes out there, Art...

Best,

Gary

Realistic . . .

 By: Dr No : December 9th, 2012-23:46
. . . would be a vintage Omega of interest; a military specimen would be nice.

Not so realistic, but still highly desired, and done deal if at all possible: G O 1845 Karree, GS SBGW035, Omega 1894 Homage.

Unrealistic, yet maddeningly tantalizing: Dornblüth Quintus.

Dreamland: Omega central tourbillon.

Remarkable that only two (or three, if you count the latest versions of the Omega central) are in current production.

Cordially,

Art

 By: Sandgroper : December 10th, 2012-02:32

My simple list includes ...

 By: nilomis : December 10th, 2012-03:51
I'm trying to stay on my budget, no particular order:

1) Habring Doppel 2.0, grey dial please;

2) Zenith Pilot big date 42mm SS

3) Omega Speedmaster "First Omega in Space"

4) Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor GMT

5) Zenith El Primero Striking 10th

6) GP Sea Hawk II John Harrison SS

Cheers,

Nilo

too many things !

 By: cisco : December 10th, 2012-04:20

but reducing it to what I could wear:

-a vintage Patek, problem is which one, so many possibilities, maybe a 1578 which is not the most iconic, but I like its special design. But so many others are tempting.

-a vintage Vacheron: a Chronomètre Royal with handwinding or a triple date moonphase, or a 4710, a reference I like, with a nice Guilloche dial.

-Longines , so many things there.

-a gold TOG Rolex (or its Vacheron "copy" ^^ ) , an oysterquartz with the blue dial also, but not as much as the first two lines.

-the one which are not vintage are sadly way out of my range: a Patek 5039G or 5139 black dial, Haldimann H9 , RO perpetual skeleton, De Bethune DBS, Lange 1815 Moonphase Platinum... and so many others  , but luckily most new watch are too large for my taste.

Good point Baron, and good comparison of a collection with cheese...

 By: Subexplorer : December 10th, 2012-04:39
... mine looks like a big chunk of good Emmental cheese!

But I feel that there is no collection, complete as it looks to be, that has no holes on it. Collecting means we are always looking after filling holes: the pieces that we feel are missing in our collections. No holes would mean no more fun, I guess.

I got a lot of inspiration reading about the "holes" of fellow Purists collections. Many of the choises here would make me more than happy.

Now, if money wouldn´t be any concern, my wishes would go after a PP Heures Universailles (not the present version, but the previous one) and a nice example of a vintage Blancpain FF.

Thank you for a very nice and interesting post!
Best cordial regards, Abel.

I have a simple list

 By: E.S : December 10th, 2012-05:30
1. AP RO anniversary

2. 1 from Rolex either blackbay or yachtmaster blue dial

3. Lange datograph old version

4. De bethune DB28

5. a nice 1655

lets hope next year treat me well

best,

Ed

with the current economic climate, I can only buy one or two maximum.

 By: chippie : December 10th, 2012-08:58

Due to Horo's influence, will be looking to buy my first Lange. Looking at Saxonia Annual Calender or 1815 Chronograph. That will be a priority. And if I don't lose my job, perhaps a Independent that is reasonable price like Habring, which many people here like. And if I can trade my panerai without losing too much money, I will look at PAM 372.and if I strike lottery ToTo, I will buy a Lange Datograph.

Sychronicity...

No idea what 2013 will bring, since I only go into a year knowing that it's always more fun when something takes me down a path I've never been or ever considered and then have something magically happen. I speak for my life as I do for how I seem to get watches smile

I do expect to get teased and seduced by all manner of vintages (mostly Omega), and I know that there will be some unexpected moments.

My wish list is your collection :) [nt]

Omega Centenary 2499

 By: kyle L : December 10th, 2012-15:55
smile

Easy for me - any watch that I like that I can't afford today!

 By: AnthonyTsai : December 10th, 2012-16:33

And that list is HUGE! smile

But if you need actual specifics, a FP Journe Centigraphe would be nice as well as the Richard Mille RM028 diving watch in brown PVD.

Cheers,
Anthony

 By: kevincosta85 : December 10th, 2012-23:10
I've always been a big dive watch fan but lately I've been eyeballing this out of production Casio MR-G Titanium frogman. Here's a pic not mines.

3. PAM 399 san seconds hand
4. Patek 3417 with 27-AM400 movement

1. 6610 red depth (someone just had to had them all, poor me)
2. DB25T
3. Big case 13ZN Longines
4. VC Les Cabinotiers Minute Repeater

Vintage wish-list 2013...

By: blomman Mr Blue : December 11th, 2012-14:04

Very nice list, my friend! I hope you will get at least some of them next year!

smile

Well, as you know I am a simple man with simple wishes...

wink

1. Highest on my list would be the icon of both Jaeger-LeCoultre and the Memovox - JLC Polaris 68 - the original of course, not the TT!

A must have, for a JLC / Memovox lover!

2. Here is a tie... Between three watches - all Jaeger-LeCoultre, all Jubilé, all gorgeous!

JLC Memovox World Time - 1 in SS and 1 in Gold (yes, I am that greedy wink)

JLC Geophysic Rose Gold

3. After that is another tie... Between four watches - two brands, two watches from each.

Omega 2915 Speedmaster

Omega Centenary

Zenith Chronometre - it don't has to be a Port Royal, a "normal" Cal 135 Chronometre will do... wink

Zenith S. 58 - first generation (no diving bezel), manual Cal 120, black dial (preferably) - I am not picky! wink

Simple, yes?

Best

Blomman

PS. Dear Santa, I have been a good boy this year...

PS2. The modern wish-list for 2013 I will wait until after the SIHH...

This message has been edited by blomman on 2012-12-11 14:06:12

Ouch, we have a lot in common!

 By: amanico : December 11th, 2012-15:25

The 2 Zeniths, the Damn JLC Memo WT Ref 3160, another Geophysic, but the cross hair dial in my case, and a nice Omega Speedie... 2998 if I can't grab a 2915...

As for the modern list, wait to see what JLC will unveil, I think there is something for you...

wink

Best!

Nicolas.
