I got my Seiko 5 back from a routine service the other day, and after being apart for a few weeks I did start to feel the onset of that old adage, "absence makes the heart grow fonder." For whatever reason, my enjoyment of this simple, inexpensive, robust and reliable timepiece has increased over time. This watch is the perfect daily beater for my purposes.
I just thought I'd spread the joy around, and share some pictures at the same time. I really enjoy Seiko watches and look forward to the opportunity to handle Grand Seikos at some point when they start US distribution.
Hope you're having a good weekend!

It's amazing what a teeny bit of TLC will do to a well-used watch. I do hope there will be a GS event at some point. I'm excited to see the watches in the metal. Of course, I hope we won't have to wait too long before your next visit! I thought of you the other day when I saw this pretty high beat vintage UN.

...just a good rubdown with a dry cloth, and of course the innards have been cleaned and oiled.

In-N-Out and Seiko in one post? Brilliant! I do love the Seikos!

the service as the reborn phase for a watch. thanks

It's such a relief to get my watch back on my wrist!

I appreciate your kind words, as ever. I'm enjoying my Seiko to pieces, and my puppy too! Although, one point in favor of the Seiko -- it's never ripped apart my ornamental shrubbery! I just started puppy class with Reign and he is the next to smallest dog in the group -- the other classmates are Pitbulls, a 170 lb. Great Dane pup, Cane Corsos, a German Shepherd, amongst other large dogs.

Daos,
Thanks for the puppy-watch shot.
Here in Singapore, the cost of servicing a Seiko 5 is more than buying it new, after (gasp! talking about $) local discount.
Thus, Seiko 5 may be run without (gasp again!) servicing until it dies (almost never) and thrown away.........or used to practice watch-tinker skills (gasp again again!).
Do I have to hand back my junior woodchuck horology badge now?
MTF
That's hysterical, MTF! You know what? If I lived in Singapore, I'd probably follow that same line of thinking! Uh oh. Now THEY are going to take back my peewee woodchuck horology badge!

It is so nice to get our "babies" back from service, safe and sound!

I'm the kind of girl who loves those little details.

...fairly cool out here (not cold, just cool). Plus, in my office it's often freezing, so layering helps. I'd rather the temperature be too cool, than too hot. I can always put on more clothing, but you can only take off so much before the words, "indecent exposure" start getting thrown around!

When watches are away for servicing it is often tough on the wallet and on the psyche.
