I am still so sad about this...mine was an 18kt IWC tuning fork and the handle of the lead must have caught it and pulled a spring bar off. i was walking on a footpath with long grass etc on either side. needless to say i never found it, but my home insurance more than compensated for its loss. its still a bummer when it happens which is why i wont take high value watches on holiday with me.
sorry to hear of your loss, but it may turn up.
Graham
Realised it was not on my wrist by the 4th
One of the guys who I was playing with (Actually my watch dealer) said he noticed it on the second hole on my wrist
So Iwent back to the 3rd and the 2nd(twice) still no watch. went back to the 4th -no watch
I was resigned to it being lost
Whilst walking past the 1 st hole I thought I would take a look
There it was under the sprinkler!!
The point is just when you think it the watch is gone it may still turn up,

Hi Mostel,
congratulations on your wife who found your treasured "great old watch"!
Will you let us participate in your joy even more by showing us this timepiece?
As to your question, I never lost a watch, but sadly enough recently destroyed one in a bearish attempt to fix it -- grrrrrrrrh!
Best regards,

The first things mine asks me when I can’t find something is “are you looking with your ‘boy eyes’ ? Unfortunately with three boys in the house she is frequently called upon to find the items we have misplaced. I do, however, do much better with my watches than I do with my wallet and keys.
Pleased it has turned up safely.
Andrew
