This one is absolute perfection......and one also gets the Sun (Moon)!

The photos do not do justice to these beauties....

De Bethune DB15. This is a terrible phone of my actual watch:
Here are a few much better photos from the internet (not of my particular watch):

I just sold this one:

One of the best looking perpetuals out there today and I love the movement. De Bethune finishing is also beyond reproach. The DB15 is so stunning I even forgive the bullet lugs.

Riley,
I appreciate the beauty of some moonphase displays, such as the pictured AL&Ss and the VC Malte Chrono Perpetual, and I understand how one might appreciate the inventiveness of the mechanisms by which they work.
May I ask whether this complication is also valued for the information it imparts? If so, why one would be interested in knowing the phase of the moon? The only ideas that occur to me are related to navigation at night or selecting the timing of night operations (e.g., to plan crimes or military operations). Are there other rational uses of the function?

the lunar calendar is used for important holidays and events. For instance, the full moon that occurred in the past few days marked the 15th day of the seventh month of the Chinese lunar year and is called Ghost Festival in many places in China, Taiwan and Singapore. It is an important day for people to pacify the hungry ghosts, the ghosts of strangers and the un-cared-for dead. Kind of like Halloween or Day of the Dead.
The Lunar New Year celebrated in even more cultures such as Muslim, Korean, Vietnamese is usually on a new moon. So just by glancing at your moonphase watch, you can quickly estimate how soon an important festival or holiday is coming up.
Allen,
Thank you for explaining this. I suppose getting to the celebration on time or avoiding the part of town where it occurs qualify as rational uses of the function, however irrational the basis of the tradition.

It is a moon phase but it also happens to have a grande et petie sonnerie and tourbillon.

it is just stunning...!!!!

this is accurate to the MINUTE. how Martin Braun managed to do this amazes me, but if you only want a moonphase function this must be the one to have.

i actually quite like the idea of having Just a moonphase function without a triple date or perpetual. this library pic from the MB website is particularly nice with the meteorite dial as well as a recognisable moon. this is officially the biggest moonphase on any production watch.

Simply gorgeous pictures .
