Hi watch nuts,
Before i bump into these mass, someone told me have you ever encountered a watch that jumps from 28th to 1st on Febuary and recognised the 30th or 31th of every month without mistake?I puzzled and answered him you must be crazy.
From there,i pick up watches, readings and discover wonders on these little 2InchX2inch metal case instrument.
From the above are my collection of modern perpetual since 4 years ago.The sizes vary from 38mm"s JLC to 42mm's UN and 46.2mm's IWC.The dial's identity have great varient too, from wg slate grey to coper in rg and mystify black in rg.
JLC's master series has the slimest ever perpetual module in its 889 cal. That's the beauty i chosen.IWC simply bold and flawless with its pellaton 7 days power reserve streatch across weekends and not to left out its user friendliness perpetual with everything adjustable(except backward) on the crown without a corrector. Finally,UN's GMT perpetual, from the dial seems like a cheap and unworthy watch.namely just a few window and two fat hands.that's where.it win my heart.Even my mom would have no trouble handling it and most importantly will not damage it.the simplicity of perpetual has been designed so simple and flawless, with its adjustable date and time. Therefore, incase you advance the time too much, just backward it,and you will not damage it.
My preference of selecting the above perpetuals for suiting all sorts of scenario and venue. And i treasure these pieces alot and from here i still have no clear path to sail.I welcome any suggestion.Just would like to share with you,the wonders of perpetual in horology and in my humble opinion perpetual stands a high ranking in the complication of horology.
enjoy......

Hi tony p,
How should i answer your request? To refuse your request, that will show how insincere i am!but to gie an Okay to your request will put me in dilema.
Three pieces to wait for them to turn in the middle night of 31st December.
Let me describe in short ok,hope this will help.JLC only will turn at 2.30am,1st the day and date then month and year will follow.IWC is fast,as soon as 12.00 sharp strike, everything change immediate even the year.UN's behaviour is responsive too, date, day, month and year change in this sequence but within few second.
wow!that already take my breath!LOLOL....
thanks for looking.

nicolas,
Golden rules or no rules are all set by man and it takes a 'true" man to break it.
If i were you,i will add one more JLC skeleton perpetual into my trio collection. As you can see,all my perpetuals are with dial but without a skeleton. So,thats my answer,if its obviously speak to me once i get to see it,i will.....own it!
Thanks for sharing the pictures.

The UN and IWC are two of the most important and significant perpetual movements of the last decade or so, the UN for its ease of use and clever design, and the IWC for its base movement. The JLC too is an important watch because it was one of the early perpetuals, designed when mechanical watches were just coming back into fashion, during a time when JLC was a very different company.

I used to own both an IWC and UN Perpetual and really enjoyed both watches. The IWC dial layout is extremely legible and balanced IMO and setting the date forward and backward on the UN is priceless if you don't store your perpetual in a watch winder and don't want to read the manual on which crown position adjusts date, time, month, etc.
I don't know about you guys but I never liked reading manuals
Do you have your eye set on another perpetual?
Cheers,
Anthony
Hi Anthony,
Few.......!You throw the snow ball back to me.Well,to answer your question,i am still wondering in search of the following piece of perpetual.might be,
i)JLC skeleton 8days as propose by Nicolas-mainly due to its front deco and the caliber very close to gyro.
ii)VC1141/PP5970 due to its lemania caliber and no doubt for its mighty popularity.
iii)lange's perpetual langematik for its cratsmanship.
or iv)Blancpain's Le Brasuss split second with perpetual.
See my appetite?LOLOL>>>Not sure yet ,my friend have to spend wisely ya....
Thanks.

would you consider the sincere's langematik perp to complement ur TZ or will it be too much?
i'm still stuck on one perpetual, the 5146...
cheers! sh
one we've all missed out on for the 'quartz' connection is the new Seiko arctura kinetic auto relay. does everything a perp needs, but after 24 hours of no movement it shuts down into sleep mode where it can stay for UP TO 4 YEARS!!! all you need to do is give it a shake and it sets everything to correct time, date etc.
how brilliant is that.
Graham
graham,
cant agree with you more,Japs are pretty fast and hot on tech.Look at the asimo by honda!simply unbeliveable.

Howdy! The 1st pictures with three of my perpetual hanging was an "ALOVERA" plant and a giant one!As you can see the One piece leaf is so many time bigger than those watches i hung there.
My sis.....already thinking that i am abnormal and has lodged a complaint to my mom>>>>seems that i will be summon to do a postmortem on me.better prepare my case for defense.LOLOL...
Thanks anyway,Bill.niceday!

Couple of questions
1. Is the IWC 46mm ? I always thought that it was 44mm and the new one was 42mm.
2. What does the 07 in the UN tell ? Is is short for 2007 ? If so, I think it would be extremely cool if they could line up all their windows in one line saying something like "Sun 15 Dec 2007"
Thanks for posting
Best Regards
Hi Akashjain-del,
Wow!can i address you just Aka or Jain?
i)IWC portuguese perpetual First version are in 46.2mm in pt,yg and pg.Last years's SIHH release 44mm with north/south hemisphere moonth phase in pt and rg,later this year it was released as 42mm,single moon phase in wg and slate gray dial.According to them, there are numerous parties demanding IWC to make it smaller diammeter,in order to address it in more gentleman way rather than bigger size more towards sports version. If i am not mistaken the 44 ans 42mm both are in production,so depend on own preference,if you are an out going person preferablily you might get the 44mm.
2)Breguet has a "straight line perpetual" watch. That is what i know so fr,date, month, date and year are align/design in a straight line from 12 oclock down to 6 o clock. It takes the other kind of nature to make this type of perpetual.
Did i answer you questions well?please let me know if you still need to know anything.i will answer what ever i can,if not those pro are around and will assist anytime.
Thanks for looking...
