Since AP is completely independent and family owned I don’t see how Swatch has any relevance, as it does with Omega and Blancpain

In that case, I am curious why Swatch are using the fonts of the Royal Oak on their web site
If you look on the website…
…you’ll see a bunch of lanyards in the shape of flowers. Now, I don’t know what the flower shape could mean…but I’m (just now) thinking that this may be a RO that can be “popped out” of the case and taken (like a pocket watch) on the lanyard. That was how the original ‘Pop’ design worked (could be transferred to different straps or taken as an independent object). And actually, after saying all this out loud, I shall proclaim this to be fact. 😁

I was puzzled when I saw the lanyard animation but you are spot on; it’s a return of the Pop.
I’m thinking hunter cased Royal Oak pocket watches, and the “pop” is from opening the lid

One thing is clear:
It’s a massive campaign !
We’re now hearing that full-page ads announcing it have appeared in quite a large number of widely distributed newspapers, which alone must have cost a fortune...
they’re clearly thinking big.
And if you open Instagram today, you see almost nothing else.
So it may be an expensive campaign, but they’ve definitely achieved their goal: the amount of attention they’ve generated is incredible.
I had a Pop Swatch which was a very cool concept back in the day…
but any joint AP release I’m sure will incite a lot of anger…and then speculators, of course.
I love when feathers are ruffled a bit…
…not that I’m an instigator or anything.
But when people lose their poop over something which is in the grand scheme of things irrelevant, and this happens a lot in our little corner of the universe, something inside me just smiles a wry smile.
Btw; if there’s a new POP and it’s not too crazy then sign me up. That, to me, is far more exciting than some AP collab.
But the font / text is a bit puzzling.
