I like tonneau shaped cases. The Voutilainen and Seiko would be my favorites in this group.

They're my overall favorite....
Simply because that is a significant component of what makes them stand out/unique.... But with that said, the Reverso still 'rules them all' in that category in my heavily biased perspective

These pieces are wonderful, and I particularly like the Niton Prima!
As someone who enjoys straps and seeing unusually cool ones embracing fine timepieces, shaped watches, I feel (much like eccentric straps, be material, colour, etc) just adds that finesse and flamboyance! Finesse and flamboyance: very well said!

ABSOLUTELY DO!!! As long as the manufacturer / watchmaker has the movement fill the case.
Cheapening it by using just an 'off-the-shelf' round movement is lazy... and being cheap. Unless it is a cheap $500 to $1000 fun watch, then sure. Maybe a rare exceptions, but we've seen how some brands don't seem to try much nowadays. Thankfully, with computers and AI, they can easily just machine up different plates, and move a bit around here or there... if they truly do make their own movements of course.
I agree with you that a shaped movement is a condition
for a shaped watch to be 100% appealing.

Still, I find it nice that Patek introduced an unusual shape in the world of integrated sports watches.

A bit like the original integrated sports - probably take a bit of time to get appreciated, I'll probably have a different view in a decade or so! :)
My feeling is that making a square watch was a bold and courageous choice
as this shape is generally unloved. But, to make it less risky, they decided to stick to the highly successful Nautilus design: therefore, the result is a bit confusing. It's both new, bold, innovative and a kind of replica of the Nautlius. That said, on the wrist, it looks quite nice.
