I would tend to think that JLC should be way above but this does not seem to be the case actually

That being said, all modern omegas mechanical movements have that lovely machine-applied clamshell finish, along with blackened screws and perlage at the bottom of the movement.

I have no personal experience with JLC, so I’ll let others chime in

Even if it is a modified sellita movement, the owner would appreciate visualizing the mechanics of how a mechanical movement works. It may even spark an interest in horology for their children or spouse or work colleagues.

I’m all for display casebacks as long as the watchmaker can maintain the same water resistance and anti-magnetism

Showing some ETA movements, what was the message? Look, we are decorating " our " movements. These are not quartz movements. But what did we see? Decorated, but not finished movements...

My opinion is like yours, because display casebacks can pull new watch lovers into the world of watches.
After be for awhile into the passion, expensive and top of the bill peaces will be a part of the new crowd.

So, a simple eta which can be seen trough glass, can be a security to harvest customers for watches. And important for the brands who are in mechanical watches.

A quarts watch is a different story, or it must be a F.P. Journe Elegante, which is far most the greatest quartz watch on earth.

I find those movements mesmerizing to look at. So much detail.

Just the thought of how much work it is to produce and assemble 300-500 small parts that together drive a watch plus its complications.

Add to it the decorative craftsmanship that goes in just to make it look better.

Hi all my first is a watch that I never fail to look at the movement prior to putting on as it always amazes me the level of complexity and finish found at its price point is my Chopard LUC Sport 2000.



My second is my Omega Apollo 8 Dark Side of the Moon and for a fairly basic modification of a Lemania movement  it has some truly unique finishing not found elsewhere and is also great to just stare into and lose yourself.
