Very Merry Christmas Everyone! :-)

To keep the spirits up during this Yuletide celebrations, I would like to share with you this wonderful and very rare Kari Voutilainen - the masterpiece no.7.
Taken on Tuesday and rushed to publish as my Christmas gift for those on the AHCI forum! :-)

there are no copies of it - its the one and only No.7 - hand made - by Voutilainen. Repeater movement  from an old restored watch and completely redone.  Indeed, its going to be a proud record sitting with the rest of the other significant watches I have photographed so far.

On the wrist, this watch is not showy nor overpowering. Even the slide for the repeater is so discreet that collectors will be hard put to recognise it is a repeater.

Absolutely exquisite photography of an equally exquisite piece.  It would be an understatement to say that I covet this piece more than words can allow.  I have read that some folks think the hands lack a sense of refinement, but I would respectfully disagree.  The level of finishing is well captured, Harry.

As for the hands being the source of much discussion, I must admit that it was probably due to the macro photography showing up the details of the blued cylindrical hands. I can understand the comments of the detractors but I honestly like them myself as its aesthetically pleasing to me with bare eyes. I think the hands is a small but effective way a watchmaker can create his own distinct design and personality.

Perhaps I wasn't paying complete attention but is the caseback hinged?  The detail is amazing and so is your photography.  Thanks for sharing!

as I had photographed. The solid caseback is in fact engraved with The 7 Sisters. This watch is a wonderful subject for photography. The movement was a darling to shoot but the front Crystal had a property to it that causes flaring and reflections that was nearly impossible to compensate.

As for the watch - I agree completely. Even when others dislike it - I just feel his hands are truly special and unique. This case back is more traditional than No.6 and indeed is interesting.
