Kind of funny that clocks haven't reached the same level of appreciation and interest as watches. I'm not sure this makes a lot of sense, as art is generally more important and more valuable than watches and clocks can be compared to art (stationary, whereas watches are transportable). Of course, there are many aspects outside of this; for instance, watches are status symbols, art works are symbols, whereas clocks are not yet seen as status symbols. Maybe one day people will have a greater appreciation for clocks? Clocks are much easier to service than watches too.
100% agree, and the visual 'scale' of mechanical clocks makes seeing the 'works' .... erotic... or, ummm, sensual.... or something like that.
You know i'm 100% aboard with desk, wall, and tall clocks. In fact, two of the three are within 15-feet of me most of the time. Imho it is in having more timepiece stores showcase such clocks is the problem. Yes, some do have a couple, tho many do not and so until you see it in person, you really can't be fascinated with the 'works'.
Where are the meaningful reviews? i'd love to review a few wall clocks.

Mainly, no reviews of wall clocks since #1, there's not a lot of demand; 2, there's not a lot of commercial interest; and 3, each piece is often unique, so it's not something people have interest in, since they can't replicate the experience by buying one themselves.
I can write a review on a Patek Philippe and it will generate thousands of views, thousands of readers will read it, several may even contact me about it, and several will even contact me to inform me he bought the watch due in part to the review I wrote. Some of my reviews have generated such traffic. But unfortunately, writing a clock, wouldn't generate a lot of traffic. The ones I've written about fountain pens does not generate significant traffic. Thus, with finite time, and the desire to write a review that would be more widely appreciated, I haven't written many about mechanical clocks. The nixie clock reviews generated some activity, but not a tremendous amount.
Thank you for volunteering yourself for a clock review of your pal Sherman! Can't wait to learn more about Sherman's good and bad habits!
Ahhh yes, so very true... and i love fountain pens too. Reminds me of a luxury audio magazine reviewing a Leica or Hasselblad. Interest, sure, but not something that moved the needle.
Yes, the market for mechanical wall clocks is surely not as vibrant as it once was. I did 'review' Sherman years ago, wife and i love him, tho it is 6:30am here so he's blissfully sleeping on the table next to me.

Watches can easily be stored in safes for investment sadly...
On my side, it is not at the top of my wish list but I would love a JLC Atmos with moon phase. The idea of having an "eternal" movement giving forever the time with the additional poetry of the moonphase fascinates me.
As you say, this would be similar to an art piece inside your house that only visitors could enjoy. A different approach compared to wristwatches.

They are less standardized which makes it difficult to service.
But in terms of parts production, the parts themselves are larger, there's less concern for a watchmaker or clock maker to "fit" the part and to "manufacture" a worn part. Also, clock parts are larger and thus easier to see how it all goes together. And the larger parts also wear slower. So, in general, clocks are theoretically easier than watches; as you're not dealing with something quite as small nor as delicate as a watch.

Today, the barrier of entry just isn't the same, the vast majority of the first watch "simply" offers time-telling.
Will we ever see someone releasing something the equivalent of an Antiqua Perpetual Calendar, decimal minute repeater or Tourbillon Remontoir as their first watch?
For sure, it was far more challenging for the independents back in those days.
