Paraphrasing the old Roman wisdom, ‘When in Carinthia, wear what the locals wear’, strapping on the Habring2 Foudroyante felt like the appropriate choice.
And before the Mad Druid asks, the strap is NOT made from the skin of the local dragon, the Lindenwurm 🐲

The Foudroyante Felix has a very animated dial with the dead-beat seconds in combination with the foudroyante. I don’t own one, but it always catches my eye when I see one in a shop.

My Habring2 foudroyante says hi! 😊. This was in the Staatsoper, but I also absolutely wore it when I was in Carinthia, too!

Do the rings have primarily a visual function or something else, too?
No functionality to the rings, they're an aesthetic tool to separate . . .
. . . the different types of wood in a handle. But pplater had a stroke of genius when he suggested trying a mineral rock native to Tasmania for the rings in our nearly matching cues . . . as far as I know our brace of Tasmanian devils are the only cues in existence to employ zaratite rings. I know of cues with malachite inlay, but have never seen any precious materials other than ivory used for rings.
Gives new meaning to 'awarded a purple heart'...
