Wind the piece. First set the year using the dragon hand and moon disc position when calendar is set to Jan 1st - there is a chart in the book that tells you what year it is when the piece is set to Jan 1st by looking at the Dragon hand and moon position. Do this in first position of the crown which is quick set mode. (Only do this if you are not sure the year is correct) This is a great time of year to check the year is set correctly. Then you need to set it by month and full moon/new moon. So get to approx the correct date using the month ring and advance or go back to a full or new moon - moon at 12 is new moon, moon at 6 is full moon. Once you have this rotate the time through the correct number of days forwards or backwards corresponding to how many days away the actual date is from the new/full moon you have set. You are now on the correct day. Now set the GMT ring to GMT time, then push the left hand button to disengage the GMT ring and set your local time. Now you are done! 👍
Thank you very much! So kind of you. I shall give it a try when I have some down time over the holidays. Many thanks and best wishes for the holidays! [nt]
What staying power this piece has! When it came out I thought "ultimate watch"... when I see one now I still have the same thought. If you're into horology you have to love UN! [nt]
Now rotate the time backwards to get the moon back to 12 position. Today is a new moon. Once the moon is at 12, set the centre earth to GMT time. Then press left button to separate the hands from the GMT Cloisonné and set your local time. Then you are good to go. 👍
Hi Russell! Hope you had a nice Christmas. Well this is what I came up with for today. Does it seem at all accurate? It’s 12:04 pm here in Portland. Thank you!
Looks perfect to me Ed. 👍 I guess you are LA/SF time zone.

Easy for me, GMT here. I always find it a wonderful 10 mins spent to get the Tellurium set - I used to keep it on a winder but somehow that took away the fun and it really is amazing to think you are viewing the real time position of the sun, moon and earth.
I am LA time zone, yes. Many many thanks for your guidance and help. I feel a sense of accomplishment!:) My best to you and family for the new year! [nt]
The original with Cloisonné enamel and the later with painted earth. Also looks to me like the blue finish of the hours, minutes and Perpetual concentric rings has been changed to black on the newer piece.
Not forgetting the change from green to blue for the dragon hand and the addition of a cap over the North Pole.
