Photography

The site was originally part of the Edo residence of 內藤清成 (Naito Kiyonari / 1555 - 1608), in 1906 it was transformed into an imperial garden, and opened to the public in 1949.  Located a short 10 minutes walk from JR Shinjuku Station, it's a popular spot for blossom viewing, covering an area of 58.3ha (145 acres)... the garden is presented in three styles: a landscape garden, a formal (rose) garden, and a Japanese Traditional Garden.  I visited on Friday 5-April-2019.

№02 is looking south-east just after entering the park via the Shinjuku Gate...the 'Landscape Garden'. №03 is the Upper Pond in the 'Japanese Traditional Garden' taken from an area near the Rakuu-Tei (teahouse). Casey

The "Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower" in photo №08 is a 204m (669 ft), 50-story educational facility and is located on the other side of JR Shinjuku Station from the park... it just indicates how urban and compact the area really is. I enjoy the many parks and green areas in the city. Casey

They have created a very nice Japanese Traditional Garden... people always look for the Peak Viewing time, but I also like just after the peak when the blossoms are falling like warm snow flakes... Casey

Today in the freezing rain there was like 6 people in the park... the weather has been up and down on a daily basis... spring weather... and more rain in the forecast this week... I hope it clears up and warms up... I want to put my winter clothes away.

If I wear my photographer hat the current weather is perfect... but I am looking for warm and dry at the moment ; )
