Gentlemen,
The Only Watch auction will be held in November 2015 and, as you maybe already know, many brands create a unique timepiece for this event.
Patek Philippe has thus unveiled for Only Watch 2015 a model based on the watch which was produced between 1993 and 2011: the 5016 reference.
It is here presented as a unique timepiece with a blue enameled dial and in a stainless steel case.
Patek
Philippe didn't do things half way as it is a very complicated 37mm model
housing a Tourbillon, a Minute Repeater and a Perpetual Calendar (with retrograde date), like the
original model was.
You may notice some little differences though like the asymmetrical day, month and leap year windows
as well as the moon which seems to be better detailed compared to the
standard versions.
It is still housing the gorgeous RTO 27 PS QR caliber:

Thanks very much for your post. It's a terrific watch, however, I'm somewhat saddened by the modern rendition of what was, to me, one of Patek's most beautiful watches. I'm not too fond of what Patek has done to the day and month windows, but I really dislike what they've done with the leap year indicator, which now cuts into the numbers 15 and 17 in the retrograde date scale.
I really don't understand why Patek did this, especially if the dimensions are otherwise the same as the original, discontinued watch. I honestly think they spoiled the look and proportions of the reference 5016. In my humble opinion, of course. They did this also with the limited production 3940s shown at the recent Grand Exhibition in London.
Maybe it's just me?
Regards.

Many thanks for the renditions. While I understand what you're saying, my personal view is they should have left it in its original form, albeit with this beautiful blue enamel dial. That, together with the stainless steel case, would have been more than enough to make this unique, stand out and befitting an "Only Watch" piece.
All in my humble opinion, of course.
Regards
move the Patek Philippe name lower to the level of the center with Patek to the left and Philippe to the right of the center. This change would allow the leap year window to be lowered , thus not cutting into the 15 and 17.
Please can you do a rendition based on the above ?
Thanks
Gordon
I have been called a muse ! My wife has never said that to me !!
Cheers,
Gordon
p.s. possible to make a rendition based on my suggestion ?
