they are all in less than 10 pieces, they were old/case mvt with unique dials

so the 3940g for example has a gorgeous rose /salmon dial (like the 5070g and 5970g)

the 5970j has bronze/brown dial

the 5070p a very dark blue

so as Nico said, consider as OOR with special dial

I'm sorry that the picture is not great (does not do justice to the colour) but here is a photo of my 3940g, with salmon dial, which I very happily collected today.

 

 

looks great in the salmon dial!  Would of been cool if they used a first series dial in salmon. 

I know we have a lot of Salmon dial fans here, this is a great watch and layout you acquired.

We would love to learn about why you chose it and many pictures too.

...for your kind words (and welcome). I will try to take some better pics and share. Why did I choose it? I saw it in the austere surroundings of the Napoleon Room of the 175 Exhibtion and began the quest the very next morning. I found the pink to be both subtle and elegant, and the colour and size seems to work with my small wrist and olive skin(!). In addition, the 3940 is an absolute classic and, for me, a perpetual was a logical progression.

By way of encouragement to all of you, I am certainly not an "uber collector" (not even close) - I do have a 5146p which I absolutely love and which I have worn every day since I got it (except when sky-diving, but that's another story). I suppose therefore that I was marked down as someone that loves the brand and their watches for their own sake, and have no particular interest in locking this (or any other watch I have) away untouched and......unloved.

I own a 3940g for years and never thought of the watch as a collector piece, it's just simply a watch that hugs my wrist so comfortably in a metal that is so low profile that it sits on it out of the limelight and serves it purpose, love it for what it does. I haven't been following WISdom for sometimes and I have travelled a lot less on biz lately, thus many of my 'biz watches' were either sitting pretty somewhere or they've gone to better homes. But never my 3940, I can't bear to think of a day it leaves me, and I know it never will and I have told my kids it would stay in the family because it's a watch I love most. During times like these, price and exclusivity never really counts, I'm glad I have acquired it years ago and I own it proudly, it's never about status symbol or affordability, I have long forgotten how much I paid for it, I'm just glad it's with me till today and for the longest time to come.
