Patek Philippe

Myopiccoog, that picture, that angle, that light

makes the 5270 look the most appealing I have seen it look--it really looks like an evolution of the 5970.

"this is white gold right"

Indeed, just the light was far from being perfect. But I agree it should be nice in RG as well smile

Thanks!

Oliver

I definitely prefer the looks of the 5270 to the 5402...

I know that it is not a split second chronograph but I find it nicer than the 5402. Thank you for the pictures Oliver.

Cheers, Francois

Only one is from Patek ...

 By: small-luxury-world : April 4th, 2013-02:43
and the latter one is from AP, isn´t it?

Francois, I guess you were talking about 5204 but just couldn´t resist smile

Oliver

ps: The same happened to a "well-known" blogger, when he reported after Basel. It is still online smile

Oops! Yes Oliver the 5204, senility is coming early this year:) [nt]

A pleasure indeed

By: Mark in Paris : April 4th, 2013-05:23
but there are one or two things that are disturbing me.

First, I really don't like this dial material and the way it is treated. In the mean time I see that many here appreciate it like that. A question of tastes I guess.

Furthermore, I'm not sure I like the dark indexes as they are integrated on these Pateks (5270 and 5204). For me, this kind of modern stuff doesn't fit the classical watch it is.

I'm sorry about that as I really like the movement and the engineering that is underneath.

Maybe a happy ending with another metal version (RG, Pt)?

Wait and see!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the pictures Olvier smile

Cheers,

Mark

Dial

 By: Myopiccoog : April 4th, 2013-09:03
mark, respect you thoughts. I believe the 5270 is an in person watch. It never looks great in pics in my opinion. The dial in person takes on many personalities depending on environment. That is why owners like myself love the watch. Pardon my ignorance, do you own a 5270?

I also think it is more retro than modern. They were going for the look of the 3970 with this watch vs the 2499 or the 5970..

Hi M',

That's indeed what was my conclusion.

Watchmaking is a field in which opinions remain very subjective.

I don't have a 5270 but have tried it on in the parisian boutique, as I have seen also the 5235 (same dial look).

I looked at it from every angle but this is something I'm sure I don't appreciate. It's a personnal feeling there and I'm sorry I don't feel differently as it is a great watch.

Congratz for yours, it's an important  item among the whole Patek's collections.

But not for me in that layout.

Cheers.

Finally

A Patek that is timeless! And beautiful and not so busy with the dial. Clean, cool and just a must have!
Its been a long time waiting. Since the last series 2499 Patek has not made a nice perpetual chronograph in my opinion.
This one will be an Icon the rest will not. Except ofcourse for the 2499....! That is the non-plus ultra of all in my view.

Thank you for the post- I enjoyed it! Great pictures. E

Agree. Well put [nt]
