The great thing about travelling on public transport and wearing such a masterpiece, is that only 0,00000000000000000001% of the population would know what it was, everyone else would think that it was a cheap dress watch!!

PP, can we PLEASE go back to a reasonably sized, non-gaudy font for the "Patek Philippe" dial signature? Such a wart on an otherwise incredible (and wonderfully understated) masterpiece. Sadly the blingy signature is becoming more and more commonplace on modern Pateks, from the simple to the most complex, and I really wish it would stop. On THIS glorious enamel dial, it's a particularly objectionable offense. Am I nitpicking? Yeah, I guess so. But at this level of watchmaking; at this price point? You have a right to expect absolutes.

Rant over! Congratulations on obtaining this holy grail of wristwatch repeaters!

from the beauty on this Patek, IMHO... (as adam.kieth said...) but I do agree the large font on some newer Pateks is verging on XXLL.... which in my mind, starts to give the impression of a lack of confidence of some sort... but!!! XXLL is the way these days... not my style however.

Back to THIS watch: to me, classically beautiful Patek.... almost worth riding the bus for---uh, aaaaaalmost!

I do believe and take part in public transport and feel very, very good about NOT poluting the environment too much.

Luxury is a watch like this and not a car with 500 bhp that consumes 30 liter as you are queueing with 120 km/h on the motorway or trying to find a car park in busy town centers - that is ignorance mating with egoism.

I don't own a car but do collect watches from simple ones to grand complications. Owning a car is a hassle in my view but then I live in NYC where I can rely on the public transport system.

What a fantastic watch,
Although I can't help but agree, the new signature and email are real turn offs for me as well.

To me,i would own six different supercars which i would drive a different one everyday to office and have this only watch on my wrist.Sunday is for me to stay at home cleaning up this watch.LOLOLOLO.....

Only the ultimate is fit for it and dont sacrifies your bread and butter just for it.....in my opinion,that is why patek wants to register thier purchaser and want you to declare your list and your wish list.....for something like this.

I live in NYC too and despite being in a relatively safe and pleasant area, I still cringe watching a driver try and parallel park his/her car. This is not to mention any acts of vandalism or the inevitable bump and tap by a less-skilled driver.

At least with an expensive watch, I can slide my shirt cuff over the timepiece and shield it from any unwanted dings/looks/careless people.

Besides, the public transit system is superb so no real need for a car. If I am in an unsafe situation, I can simply hail a cab. No need to worry about car-jacking or finding a spot later on. Garages are a viable option but I get paranoid that the parking attendant(s) will having a Ferris Bueller joy-ride with my car.

I just have to add also a grande complication and we will be par !


 I NEED MONET !

...of taking this on to public transportation, e.g. subway, is that you don't hear it as quite clearly as when you are off the vehicle. Very serious problem. But other than that, everything is perfect. Money well spent.

I already take public transportation several times a week.

I think if I spent all my money on watches, I just wouldn't leave the house.

Dress watches at swimming, chronographs at work. There is pleasure to be had in this.

And I think this Repeater looks superb ... in any setting.
