The movement does look beautiful for sure. This launch, however, leaves me disappointed. Why? Because I can't wear this watch. I can visualise the men's version, and that has me salivating, but having worked myself into expecting a men's chrono today, I now find myself having to wait another 5 months or so to see what the men's version looks like. Yes, disappointed.
Having said that, this ladies chrono is beautifully crafted. The movement is exquisite and the design of the watch works very well indeed.
Roll on March.
Let's wait and seeit is a nice movement no question about that but I prefer chono movements like this one.
Maybe I'm an exception but I just don't like all those bleu screws and zillion gold chatons. I really do prefer the patek movements (Minerva has a we superb chrono's too) I guees it's all personal opinion
and in a larger case. I LOVE IT
It's imo a very nice vintage looking watch
Besides, who says the men's watch will look the same ? This is just 1 watch, several will follow and it won't be the same case. Think about a 5070/5970/5004. They will definitely use this caliber for more complicated watches (perpetual and split second) . Wait untill Basel 2010 and we might get something like a 6070 and 6970
I think you should reconsider your opinion Tim ;-)
Like said, imagine this watch without the diamonds and make it 5 mm bigger
It's a style we saw in the 1920's - 1930's this is a similar looking piece and I like this
We don't know what case they will use for a men's watch, it could be completely different (could be a more common round shape)

we are having this discussion......? Trying to imagine what this will look like without the diamonds......... Assuming/hoping there will be some impressive men's models to follow........
What were they thinking? They will have no trouble selling the last of any Lemanias, so I don't think a men's watch would have stepped on any toes.
Even if that is the most incredible chrono movement created (does not look overly impressive to my amateur eye), it would be very hard to get excited by this without a more complete package.
A move as bold as showcasing perhaps the most important Patek movement in memory first in a rather strange looking ladies timepiece has to be very calculated, but I haven't heard from anyone who understands the calculations. Is the boldness meant to hide something else or to whet our appetite?
This is the replacement for the Lemania? I can't get my arms around this watch and the 5070 or 5970 in the same breath. This is supposed to go head to head with the Datograph? Even ignoring the front of the watch (which is hard to do) I don't see it yet.
Please tell me what I am missing.
She didn't like all the diamonds and thought that it would suit her better without them...........At which point I sighed with relief!!
With regards to the movement, it appears to my untrained eye, somewhat tightly packed in. Unlike the Lemania & Datograph movements.
I wander how it would look in a larger cased watch?
I would hope that with the mens version, they would make the sub dials look more traditional, I do not like the oval type apperance.
Interesting reference number.
Wishing you success!

As usual Patek is pushing the envelope. I wonder how this watch looks in the flesh and as such I will reserve judgement until then.
