Hello everyone,
I hope that each of you had a great Thursday today, or for my friends in the US, about to have a wonderful Thursday! It's just one week to Thanksgiving, and i can't wait for the Turkey and cranberry sauce to start rolling! Yummy!
I am pleased to announce that i have purchased my very first Patek Phillippe today! (I say this because if you count the Patek's which I have inherited from my parents, this isnt the 1st one, but if you count the piece which I have purchased with my own finances, this it it!)
The piece which I have chosen is none other than the beautiful, classic, elegant 5098P Chronometro Gondolo from SIHH 2007! Ever since this piece was released last year, I have set my sights upon it, and for those who have read my previous posts, you might know my desperation in finding it throughout the world!
At long last, through a close friend of mine, and a favourite AD of mine, I have managed to track one down, and have made the full purchase today!
The watch isnt with me yet, because i'm in a different country from where i bought the watch, but it will be collected by my family back home.
As the adverts of Patek has said it, and as i have come to know it myself, it is true that you really never actually own a Patek Philippe, you merely look after it for the next generation. And this i intend to do with all my heart, soul and passion as with all my other precious beauties! Now i just have to decide which piece to hand down to which child/children when i do have them in the future!
Just as my parents intend to pass to me their Ellipse, I too shall start my own legacy with Patek Philippe with this Chronometro Gondolo, and cherish it and love it with all my life. The strange thing is, as much as I love all my other watches truly, is that i never talk such sentimental stuff with/about them, but when it now comes down to Patek, i feel that i NEED to say these, and in fact feel good while saying them. Something to do with the adverts? Or is this just the magic spell of what is often considered to be the epitome of haute horlogerie in the world?
I look forward to many exchanges with all of you on the Patek forum, and please, consider me in your favour highly (as they say it here in Japan, Doozo Yoroshiku Onegaiitashimasu!)
And without further ado, here are some photos of my very first Patek, of which I proudly yet humbly present to all of you for your viewing pleasure. Note to my friends such as Mon ami Nico, these were taken by my AD, so i have not gotten a camera yet! Soon my friend, very soon......

My oh my.....

Look at it....... I know i'm drooling....

Drop dead gorgeous movement!
Please, feel free to comment! It would be my pleasure to hear from any of you soon!
With best and warmest regards from Tokyo, Japan
Stephen Tjandra
Thanks for the congrats!
Glad you enjoyed the photos!
A bientot!
Stephen
Stephen, that is surely one of the nicest "simple" PPs -- one of the nicest period, IMHO. What a great first choice! It kind of toes the line between the round and rectangular "debate" that is going on elsewhere on the forums here, doesn't it? What a wonderful answer to that question! I love everything about this piece, and I know ou will enjoy it.
respo
Not only is this my 1st Patek, it will be my very 1st true tonneau watch! Well unlike the 2 Ellipse that i will have, those are in the "round" or "rectangular" category!
Thank you for your comments respo, and i will enjoy it to the fullest! I intend for this to be my daily wearer now, for a while to come at least!
Cheers and have a great Thursday today!
Stephen
Hi Stephen,
Congratulations for choosing such a marvel !
I've loved it since I put it on my
wrist on the opening day of Basel 2007!
I hope to offer myself a Patek Philippe
someday and I'd be happy to pick this one first, even if there are some
more reachable options. :-)
Here is a pic for you from my first
encounter.
I can't
wait to read your pleasure when you'll touch it!
Best regards
Dje
Coming from you i am honoured!
Thanks for the photo, it looks great on your wrist!
Yes, i will definitely keep the forum updated on my feelings as i get to wear the watch!
But right now, i'D like to just bask in the fact that I own a Patek Philippe at last!
A bientot mon ami!
Stephen

I couldnt agree more with you on this piece! It is truly one masterpiece from the manufacture Patek Philippe! And one of the few pieces released in recent times that really sang to me, spoke to my heart!
I love the dial especially, when complemented by the Pt case!
Cheers
Stephen
If my bankaccount would allow it, I would probably buy this piece.
Saw it once IRL and I loved it
Thanks again for helping me with the photos over at TZ, and also for your other posts!
Appreciate them all! Glad you liked the piece!
A bientot
Stephen
Arigatou man! Thanks for the comments! Yup, the dial is one of the main parts that attracts me to this watch, but the biggest reason is that beautiful tonneau case in Platinum! The forging of it is simply amazing, together with the curved sapphire crystal, just drop dead gorgeous!
And Patek did a wonderful job in bringing back such an iconic watch, for times such as these!
The lack of a seconds hand , would be a must for me if the system hacks. But since Patek's dont hack (yea i know about the reverse hack thing which i would never do to my watches,so the actual hacking with a lever) i do in these case prefer a 2 hand watch, and i think 2 hand-ism doesnt get better than this! For now at least..... But seriously, it'll be hard to beat this little fellow....
Will post the wrist shots, when i get the piece in da house, and very importantly, a camera too.....
Mata ne!
Stephen
I sure will! LoL, and here you go, your kleenex!
Cheers and have a great TGIFRIDAY!!!!!
Stephen
Thanks for appreciating it!
Have a g'day ahead!

Unbelievable, incredibly insane! All my money for watches, but not for a camera!! When will i get to it?!
But thanks for the comments! And i would want to wear it right now, if it werent for the fact that the watch isnt with me yet, its about 7000km away from me!
Merci et a bientot!
Stephen

From the lighting in this photo, the watch looks patinated in a way(especially at bezel around 6o'clock), and the Platinum seems to have turned liquid yet hold its form! And i love this effect! It looks even antiquated here, and totally gorgeous!
Nice catch you have there too! Wear it always in the best of health, as you must have been till now!
I can't wait to wear mine too, knowing i can have it forever!
Merci,
Stephen

And thank you for sharing this shot of the case back as well!
Look at the beautiful finish!
