Lovely post. It reminds me of my response to getting my first PP recently. I kept playing with it & admiring it whenever I was free. Don’t know about the “start your own tradition” bit as my daughters’ response to this endless & unabashed admiration was a “get over it dad”!!! She was taken aback that at this price, I actually had to wind the watch!!! She is still into bling but hopefully.........FWIW I think that if one is limited to only one totally classic watch it would be the 5196P. Just can’t get over it.
I’m still waiting the paperwork. So forgive me for asking something which may be obvious or common knowledge. I note that in addition to the diamond, there is a number (Pt 950), a diamond shaped emblem & another emblem with the letters ? (PPCe)on the rear of your watch. I have something similar on the rear of the lugs. Could anyone tell me what they signify.
thanks

I will definitely enjoy this watch much, and i believe this to be the start of a very very long relationship with Patek!
Have a great weekend ahead!

Your 5196P, is indeed a very beautiful and nice choice as well! I had the opportunity to handle it once again this evening, and thoroughly enjoyed feeling it so much!
As for your questions, I am able to help you in some of them. About the diamond at 6 o'clock, i'm sure you know by now that for all Patek watches that are executed in Platinum since 2000, they all have a 0.02 carat diamond of G or H colour to differentiate them from White Gold or Stainless Steel cases at a glance.
The number Pt 950 represents the purity of the platinum used in the case, that is 95% pure platinum, which is the norm for platinum watches. This is the visible (as in with the naked eye) symbol.
The other diamond shaped emblem which you can see, well the overall shape is diamond shaped, but what is truly important is what is etched INSIDE that emblem. If you use say a 10 times loupe like I do, you can clearly see that there is a set of scales with the word "PT950" between them INSIDE that emblem! This is the hallmark for the metal used in the case, in this situation its platinum. You may notice that to the right of that platinum hallmark there is another symbol with a Saint Bernard dog in it, this is the hallmark for any precious metal made in Switzerland.
As for the PPCe part, i dont know about this, its the 1st time i'V seen it on a Platinum watch of mine, so this might have something to do more with Patek.
Hope i have been of some assistance!

Thanks for all the information. I just checked again It is PPCo, which I'm presuming PP Company.

It's about time you got a camera! . Are you gonna change the strap to a Pt stitching one for this too?
Wear it in good health, and looking forward to catching up with you in Tokyo again.

Hey you got to let me know when these straps come in midnight blue or navy blue.
A friend is going to take me to the VC boutique here. It looked very impressive from what I've seen of it on this forum. Will also be visting the Lange and PP boutiques. Got time on my wrist.
And if they already were available in Midnight Blue, you think i would still be sitting here?!
As mentioned when i met you, they ran out of that blue that i have right now on all my straps, so i'm doing something special from them again..... I dont know how this will turn out but if its unsuccessful, i'l probably be doing a glossy black.
They have colours that are called Navy now, but remember for me i'm ultra picky about the tones of colours, so its not navy enough for me, but maybe good enough for you!
Have fun visiting the boutiques!
Cheers!
But jyoozu jya arimasen means "not good/professional", so may i ask which post or thing that i or others have said that you are referring to that isnt good?
Stephen
Glad you enjoyed the photo of my new Patek!
Cheers!
