I’m pretty impressed by the visual difference between your 5970P and the new 5270P. Without knowing these both timepiece sizes, I would have bet on a 3 or 4mm difference.

While I love your sentiments about the Aquanaut, I have to say, personally, I still prefer the Advanced Research Aquanaut more than this one.  The orange is nice, but not for me.  I have a friend who's an avid lover of the color orange.  This might be ideal for someone who adores orange.  The square pushers on this watch seem a little hard-edged.  Contrasted to the rather soft look of the Aquanaut case with its muted and rounded edges, it seems almost out of place.  Royal Oak is more hard edged than Nautilus.  The pushers aren't quite as hard edged as the Royal Oak, but too hard edged for the Nautilus.  First impressions...  Maybe my mind will change upon seeing it in person. 

The perpetual Nautilus' pusher at 9 o'clock on the side of the case really ruins the lines of the beautiful case for me.  I cannot imagine forgiving it when I would be perfectly happy with a 5711 or 5712. 

Which leaves me to the 5270P, which looks stunning.  I like the idea of your 5970P more than the 5270P, and the color of the 5970P's modern black dial and the elegant concave bezel make it an extremely handsome watch that's both good for sporty wear (black dial) or extremely formal wear (black tie with black dial).  The 5270P is very nice, I like the two dot apertures at 4:30 and 7:30 positions; but I'll have to try on the salmon dial before I can determine if I'd like the salmon dial over a more conventional colored dial.

I am so appreciative of you guys going to Basel and doing such a great job reporting back all this years entries for those of us who don’t make the trip so a big thank you.
Again I have been left disappointed this year which is good news again for my wallet.
I think the Nautilus is also the best from Patek and the Tudor BBB 39mm as for Rolex well boy oh boy.
I’m sure the 5270 debate will kick off soon.
Again Joe I for one really appreciate yours and other people efforts on the reports you produce from Basel.

From desk top research, the design of the chrono Aquanaut looks attractive but I am uncertain about the orange hands and minute markers in the subdial.  Hence, I need to see it in the metal. 

Just doesn’t make sense to me. PC just isn’t a sporty complication. Hence I love it in precious metal.

Now the games are over it’s time to debate on whether it’s a green light to buy or whether any doubts arise.

icon with a steel case and bracelet origin is oxymoron. LOL ! Hence, I decided not to pursue this piece as soon as I found out it came with white gold only.

I don't mind a larger watch, but I do mind an unbalanced one. In fact, as much as I adore my 5650, it walks the line of being too top heavy for me (of course, notwithstanding this, its merits still render it one of my all-time favorites 😀)

As everyone knows, my opinion on the Nautilus aligns with your own. A stunning combination of two almost incongruent themes, white metal, gorgeous blue dial (I wasn't sure based on pictures alone, but it seems the same blue as that of the 40th pieces rather than of the regular production references). A very well executed piece. I'm pot committed; and I'm curious who else will take the plunge???

I believe it is exactly the same blue as the anniversary blue.

Yes.... there is nothing like feeling a watch on the wrist.

I really look forward getting the Aqua chrono on my wrist. A very tempting and sporty PP!

And also the 42.2mm is at the tipping point for me on sizing. It just tips over whereas the 41mm tips under my size preference.

Also.... the 5270p did also feel on the big side for me.

I'm curious because I also feel that the 5270 is too big. Does it wear more like the 5970?

To my mind, the 5270 feels biggest on the wrist. Then the 5370. Then the 5970. The case shape of the 5970 makes it the nicest “feel” on the wrist based on sizing for my wrist. I see 42mm as being as big as I want to go. 5270 and 5370 are at 41mm, so inside my personal limits but I feel the 5270 wears bigger than the other two.

I guess you are right about the case shape. I'm wearing 5960 as we speak, and it feels much smaller than 5270 at the same diameter!

Between 5270 and 5970. It feels like 3-4mm.

It seems like the Aquanaut and the PCC both shared the "downside" for you, and I'd guess many others, of being just too big.  Having recently had the 5164 on my wrist for the first time I also experienced that deflating feeling of "it's just too big for it to be right (for me)".

I too dislike the lack of 3-9 alignment of the sub-dials in chronos and PC chronos. Unfortunately it is everywhere now, so I am patiently waiting for this fashion to pass. Maybe next year, a new manual chrono line should be introduced.

As for the Nautilus PC, I will wait to it for myself. But as I am a Nautilus fan then I have the inverse preconception that it is not for me.
