Factory authorised re-editions
We so many watch companies reissue copies and homages to watches in their historical collections; JLC, Longines, AP, the list is long. But what about established car companies with classic cars in gheir long histories? What would we think about Porsche releasing a limited edition modern 356 or Lamborghini a Muira? There must be a market for a 'factory built and endorsed' copy?
Or do all of the negatives that we throw at the watch companies come into play: run out of imagination; leave the classics alone; reissues just dilute the original.

Does anyone complain about the new Fiat 500 or the new Mini?
If well done, I don't think it is a problem. Like watches.
I would love to see a Ferrari 246 or a Fiat Dino, re edited.
In a more reliable way.

Reissue, then.
I don't see an exact copy of the Mini or of the Fiat 500. I tied both, and the top of my head is touching the roof. No place, not a lot of comfort, and the reliability is approximative, on the originals.
Which would not work in our modern world, unless you are a vintage car fan, but for that, the original is THE one to consider.

... a Beetle, Mini or a Fiat 500 is one thing Andrew ...
but re-editioning a Lambo or a Ferrari would be very hard i think, considering the cost of develloping a 'new' car ... it would have to be a model replacing for instance the 458 or the Gallardo ... adding an extra model for a carmaker like VW, BMW was already a huge job, i don't think brands like Ferarri and others are up to it ... at least not the coming 10-20 years ... and then ... .
On the other hand building a limited 20 cars on a 458 chassis could be interesting but only for the really wealthy people on this planet ... but then one wants a Dino, the other wants a 512 BB, one a Daytona ...

Auto industry works on much bigger scale, and cannot count on the twisted minds of a few to make this or that model.
Plus you are forgetting the independant, the tuners, that are there for those nostalgic of retro models.
