In 2009 I wanted to buy a black 997 GT2 from Porsche. However, they told me that corporate rules only allowed me to lease this special model. That ended my 20-year loyalty to the brand....
And nevertheless it was the time of financial crisis at the markets. They wanted to get more margin on the car by the leasing contract which had bad conditions
The recent S/T had a similar clause where you had to lease it first. From the figures I saw grossly marked up money factors that benefited Porsche financial plus limitations on what you can do with the car (now I’m all for limiting speculators, but if they are all locked in for a year the speculation just begins a year later). Sad state.
I wasn't aware that they are still playing that trick

Since then they have asked me several times to return but I kept my line. If ever again it will be a used one but for sure not from the P-dealer. And I had two factory pick-ups in Zuffenhausen so I am fine with that...
My dad has a 996 GT2 that only sees a couple days of driving a year. He’s older though so I can see where the car may intimidate him more in his later years.
