For me, the most desirable and sensuous Maserati is the Ghibli, even more than the 3500 GT, in my opinion.
But I can't deny some charm to the Merak, outside and inside.

The sports car segment has long gotten too caught-up....
in striving to make 1000+ bhp cars.... Total lunacy, nobody, including pro drivers, can apply that much power responsibly on regular streets. Those cars, in my opinion, are truly for track-use only.... Give me a gorgeous ~500hp sports car with a manual transmission and I'm 'set for life'

Bizarrely, the Jaguar XJS used at least one Merak design cue (and was originally intended to be mid-engined).

Between 1972-1974 you could have bought a Jaguar e-Type or a Merak…..
One of these is a timeless, iconic and aesthetic masterpiece. The other, as you say, is something a bit different 😀
It's a nice car, with a bad reputation. I recommend watching one of the old Top Gear episode called "cheap italian supercar" (as far as I can remember), Clarkson was driving one of these with the usual TG twist !! :D
