Not that impractical...

 By: amanico : October 6th, 2020-14:11
Soon, it will be an old story....

The only impractical thing is the hardtop convertible roof mechanism

I know they reduce cargo room a bit, but that's okay.

What worries me is my pals at the "collision estimating factory" where I used to work,
tell me they seldom can be made to work properly after a good smack in the side or bump in the rear end.

That's not uncommon with any type of car, just these babies have more moving parts that have to line up.

Mike

True that they reduce the place. I was lucky to not experiment a good smack, though. [nt]

You're selling the volvo?

 By: Arronax : October 6th, 2020-14:29
Lookimg forward to see what replaces it! Gone but not forgotten: 2008 mx5 for me, sunflower yellow was a nice color with plenty of pop, never seen so many insects attracted by any other car and I dont mean on the windshield. Great memories driving around with my son:

Lovely yellow candy! Yes, I am selling it to fund my new crazy project. [nt]

I looked at an Elan in Norfolk Mustard

Very similar to your Miata color. I liked the color but not that particular car

Mamma mia... In top condition! [nt]

"... a Buick Riviera V8 Convertible circa 1984 with FWD" - Is that FOUR wheel drive or FRONT? In fact, either would be fantastic. [nt]

That's front wheel drive

 By: cazalea : October 6th, 2020-14:31
They only came in white or this red. My car had sport wheels, this has Riviera wire caps. They could have a v6 turbo or v8. Otherwise they were all loaded.

Wonderful! (My first Buick was the boat-tail Riviera.)

Although never brought to the States I still have a friend here who owns one (shhh) and another buddy in the UK with one.
The England pal has had lots of leaks and electrical issues but still keeps it happily in his garage with a few other crazy cars.

I did some work with Smart at the beginning, just as the first cars were launched, long before the Roadster I think

Mine just runs perfectly - in all aspects! 👍🏻🍀☀️😃

No leacks, no issues what so ever!
On the contrary: Happy 225kkm already in 17 years with around 110PS from 700ccm (not original) 🙈😇💪🏻🤪

Other. The tuning has been done from a German and Swiss guy, over months!

 By: MCG (Markus) : October 6th, 2020-15:46
Main aspect was the improvement of the gearbox behaviour. Especially in the automatic modus it simply wasn‘t good. The performance part had several options e.g. even more power but only with upgraded clutch etc.

I was taken on a ride with a BMW enthusiast/employee in an M roadster. He felt it was the most fantastic car ever made. It was perhaps the scariest ride I ever had and no doubt plenty of power! That was a hard top, not soft top. Very neat car though. I think TimJ had one of those.

M roadsters are wild indeed. I fully agree.

My both Z3 and Z4 are powered by 3.0 V6. Perfect engine for cruising around.

Mandatory engine, the 6 Cylinders, for the Z3! Agreed. [nt]

I have driven a friend's car a couple times and have wanted one, but the Lotuses are already here and I can't manage any more sporty cars.

When we had our Fiat 500e, I drove the new Fiat version and liked it but again my wife prohibited me from even thinking about buying one. No, it wasn't the girl I was going after - this is the only photo I can find...

Aaah, the 124 Spider Abarth. A bit disappointing in terms of power. Too bad because it is a very nice one! [nt]

I have in the past referred to it as the sensible daft car!
Went on a few track days last year which were great fun. It also showed car far more capable than I am!

My wife's convertible is more practical than mine...

 By: Emil Wojcik : October 6th, 2020-16:05
My wife's Jeep Limited. Although the entire hardtop is removable we've never removed the whole thing, we always just removed the front panels. But last year I bought a folding section for the front seats since it's more convenient than removing the front panels--they were too time consuming to take off plus they had to be stored. Now I can flip the front section back with one hand while sitting in the car--VERY convenient .

My MGB is much less practical. Since there is no top at all it's strictly a fair-weather car. I've had it since the mid '80s when it was my daily driver--of course it had a top back then. And yes, I have to look over the windscreen.

What a nice pair of convertibles

 By: cazalea : October 6th, 2020-16:18
My kind of vehicles; I could be happy with either.

That top is just like the one on my Citroen 2CV which I didn't count. I will have to add in all the Citroens!!

Mike
