Quite a bit. But you buy it only if you are genuinely crazy about it. Nice shots. Cheers, Filip

I'm liking it too, and that's dangerous 😂

I‘m not a Merc fan at all but if you want to go for an iconic SUV, that‘s it. Period.

Best, Volker

Icon, hmmm, good input. Thanks Volker. [nt]

I want one...

Just because it looks so cool...

I concur, the Porsche Cayenne is easier to drive.  Having driven the Cayenne Turbo for a few days, I really enjoyed the car.  RPMs are too low in 8th gear at 100 kph (62 mph) so the car has a lot of vibration/harshness when you want to speed up.  Press the gas a little harder and make it downshift into 7th to reduce this problem.  The Cayenne's braking is also superlative.

I haven't lived with the G-wagen for any period of time, but I can tell you in the short time I have I noticed the car had a lot of wind noise at highway speeds.

I did have a GL63 AMG for a couple days which was superlative in every way except for braking.  Pads were a little soft, you could tell that those pads would have a short life cycle.

Oh, I found a problem with that G63.  It's missing the flat bottom steering wheel because it has a heated steering wheel (which requires a normal steering wheel).  Can't get that one!

I am driving quite a lot of high ways and also in miserable conditions.

Lapland in the winter and we need to cross 1 km of a muddy field when going to the farm (will built a road next year). I tried most of the high quality SUV and ended buying a Cayanne S with V8 diesel engine.
Porsche is great on high ways, top speed of 252 km/h is enough and that car is amazingly capable on muddy fields, off-road and in snowy conditions. My 2 2nd choice was Range Rover but it sucks on high ways; especially when it is windy.
Best, Kari

Fortunately or unfortunately, my SUVs will never see any off-road, like many US owners....

It’s mostly city driving or highway cruising.
Good to know you chose the Porches for those reasons and it performed to your expectations.

Last week i took ...

 By: bimbeano : October 18th, 2017-13:53
... a Mercedes GL 350 diesel with 258 hp out on the Autobahn. Topspeed is supposed to be 225 kph which felt like cruising in my sofa. Downhill i was able to take it easily up to 246 but the Skoda in front of me couldn't go any faster, still it felt rock soild glued to the road.
I never expected a SUV to be this good at high speeds, there was offcourse more wind noise compared to my BMW 120 at speeds up to 200 kph, thats the price you pay for driving a high SUV ..... unless you pay premium for a Bentayga i suppose smile

I have been totally happy with my Cayenne also on highways.

I would say that a good SUV is as good to drive as a good sedan.

Best, Kari

Me too, no complaints on my Cayenne S...SUVs are really that good by Porsche. [nt]

I was a little concerned about the long-term reliability with Range Rover and although I haven't driven one, I imagined it would drive more like a truck and I want an SUV that will drive with the stability of a car.  My normal vehicle is a Mercedes V8 sedan.  So something that requires as little of a learning curve would be nice.

My feeling about Range Rover was

that I'm driving a distribution van.

Best, Kari

If there is any sense in you: buy a Range Rover.

If you want to buy an classy icon:
Buy a Defender (or Range Rover)

If you want to intimidate other road users: get the G

Oh and I forgot something: YOLO!

I think most of us here has no sense, right?
