Did you enjoy it, Graham? The world of Avatar is very absorbing. The story is a classic one, which is why I think it translates well to a variety of different people and cultures, but the fictional world in which they reside is so novel and cool.
I could definitely see it a second time.

Not so much the movie itself (which I have seen in IMAX 3D, VMAX 3D and 'conventional' 2D), but the influence we think this film might have. Remember when 'references' to Matrix started appearing in so many subsequent action / Sci-Fi movies? I think Avatar is going to have deep repercussions and it will certainly be interesting to 'watch'.

...about the influence this movie will have. I think it's too early to tell exactly where this movie will take cinema, but one thing is for sure, we'll revisit the world of Avatar again. The great thing about virtual sets is that they already live inside a computer somewhere. It will make filming any sequels that much easier.

Quite right, Daos, and Jim Cameron has already pencilled a story arc of at least two more films. Avatar was very successful at combing live action with CGI and traditional models (I believe the film is 60% CGI and 40% ‘live’). Not perfect, mind you, which becomes obvious on repeat viewing when you are not so distracted by the story and can concentrate on the visuals and 3D immersion, but still very good. The other aspect is the use of actors and the way their expressions and emotions are ‘grafted’ onto CGI creations. This is just going to get better and better …

..the dome plexi looks great on it !

Welcome to the forum! I like your photo! Looking forward to reading more from you.

Pleased you liked the photos. The ABR (largely after seeing the infamous video of AT trying to destroy a table with one) is the only watch I have that I completely relax when wearing. It’s nice to know it can take a little abuse – or hammer in a few nails.
These are Galapagos Giant Tortoises and it is amazing to meet an animal that lives to over 100 years of age.
It was a fun day at the zoo. A coolish summer day. We got there at opening time and the animals were very active.
Thanks again for the masthead.

Giraffes are a favorite! Your watch looks very handsome on its stingray strap. Cool!

They are so cute! I love how a giraffe's coat is as unique to them as a human's fingerprint is to us -- no two are exactly alike. Looks like you had a beautiful day at the zoo!
I am up late watching the men's Australian Open finals live on ESPN2 right now. What time is it in Melbourne, I wonder?
